Australian live rock

So 7 pounds of this sticky Aussie rock or 15 fully submerged from KP. Don’t need a lot but really trying to avoid a cycle.

I'm a big fan of kp aquatics I recently grabbed a 15lb box and I and so much life when it arrived. Tons of large and small starfish, all kinds of crabs, I think I counted 6 pistol shrimp, a bunch of worms including spaghetti, fire worms bristle worms and of course a bunch of Eunice. I had done a high salinity dip to entice everybody out. But that rock is well worth the money and if you put it right in a tank the cycle will be short. This Australian stuff looks like it's going to be a nasty cycle from the die off.

1.035-1.040 for about a minute. Give it a shake and you'll see pretty much anything unwanted come out this will include starfish and pods and such too though

That rock looks great!!! Compare that to the “life rock” that is painted, which most likely seals up super small pores in rock, and that rock is legit nice stuff. Good score.

The Australian rock seems to be "natural;" it looks far too similar to dead coral branches to be aquacultured manmade rock and too irregular to be manmade branch rock. The sustainability aspect probably comes from the the rocks growing from and then separating off reefs during storms, which is how most "natural" live rock is formed (but this means the sustainability of the rock depends on how fast the coral, that forms the rock, grows, which is probably why "natural" live rock is not usually considered sustainable).

The majority of the patches look like Coralline.

I did not. I don't buy coral from uc any longer. Seen too much. Was going to take a chance on the rock but don't Feel like paying for everybody else's shipping when there are no macros really on any of the rock.

Bud like JD said shipping wasn't included in 24.99 price.
You can say the rock was overpriced. But some of us paid shipping.
Only after certain dollar amount.
Like corals. After certain amount a lot of things ship free.

I just saw this thread today. I ordered 7 lbs worth from Unique and it arrived today. It was well wrapped in paper and literally soaked in water and the temp was 75.6f. Just put it in a spare tank as a temp home. I received a very nice arch about 12×6×6 inch LxHW and a smaller rock. Did not expect the arch. The most porous live rock I have seen. There is all kinds of life on it including sponges and some macros, and coraline.I will post some pictures in a bit. Any advise on parameters and lightning until it is ready to go to a new tank?

lots of food, sorta like some sea hares in that its not that they are super picky or dangerous, but just eat a lot

And yes it was expensive but included shipping. Will see how it color up and what made it. Here are some initial pics when placed in too small of ank as I did not expect such a large rock. This will change shortly as I will move it.

I won't say this is rock in wet newspaper
Since there is a bag I can see some water in it. So it's shipped with a little water.
Usually vendors who ship in wet paper just have it in box with wet paper. Lol

I received my Aussie Live Rock today and definitely not disappointed. I told them to keep my pieces on the small side since these pieces will go into my existing tank after curing. This is the type of rock that I easily obtained 20-30 years ago before all the restrictions were put in place. It is very porous and covered in different colors of coraline . If you zoom in on some of my pics you can see this rock still has lots of life. I bought 7 pounds but think they gave me a bit more.
