Automatic feeders

I have used the Eheim Everyday feeder for over 10 years (same one). Actually have had a few of them and they all work well no matter how old they are. I agree with the tape to hold the gate in place. Definitely a good idea.

Have used the Apex feeder but it's loud and I really don't know how to justify the cost. Yes, you can program it to shut down the pump during feeding but otherwise it's just an autofeeder (again, a loud one!). I sold this one and went back to the Eheim. Eheim for the win!

I use the avast plank with an Apex controller. It will s rather quiet and I can feed any size pellet and powders. I use TM Reef Snow and the other two items in it. I no longer have to mix it in water. It does it automatically. No food goes down the overflow.
I also have the eheim. It is great and does the job for very little money. It’s not as consistent in amounts and doesn’t allow any type of food.
I also add frozen to the plank. The pump melts it and it gets broadcast by wave pump underneath.

I have a penn plax drum feeder that might be 30 years old. It hasn't been in continuous use, but it is well-used. It is noisy (I don't think this is so bad though - it lets me know it is working). It has spent the last year under a canopy, but I've usually used it outside whatever hood arrangement I had in place. I mostly use this for flake. My goby won't touch pellets.
I have an eheim feeder. Its quiet, keeps the food dryer (it has a small fan), and is a little easier to fit in some spaces. I mainly use it for pellets. I do find it hard to fine tune at the low end, and also use tape. It has also spent much of the last year under a canopy in a humid space.
I really like that avast feeder, but for right now, nothing I keep is so dependent on small regular food doses that I need to pony up that kind of $ for that kind of performance. It remains on my "someday" list, because I do really like it. And if one of mine breaks, it might be the way I go.

Unless you are talking about a screw drive or a frozen food delivery system (avast or AF4), feeders are pretty simple and unchanged for years.

I liked the posts I read here about the Eheim automatic feeder. So I quickly watch a video on its operation. Even a 70 year-old, like myself, can operate that Eheim. Thanx
you watched the demo video to view the nice German girl showing its operation and setting.
