Awesome PS Plug-In Topaz Adjust (PICS)

here is another example of some of its abilities...a really different look, and a nice one i think.

Mmmmm this is why I want to pursue photography !
The pics definitely look HDR compared to the originals !

I installed the trial, To me it makes photos look fake, more like a painting.

+1 some of the actions shots and scenic shots look good, but the animals all look like paintings. Guess it depends on the photographers style :)

Thats the whole point. Its artistic expression. Think of it this way.

How many times have you seen a picture of a given landmark? lets use the statue of liberty for example.

pretty much everyone thats seen it in person, took a picture of it.

there is only so many ways you can see the same old photograph...now enter HDR, TOPAZ, etc...bringing new life to an otherwise played out, boring picture.

I love the surreal look they take on. Certainly not intended for realism. Now, absolutely, they can be done more subtlety and take on a very detailed, realistic picture...but thats not the route im looking to go.

the animals were intentionally done like that.

instead of boosting detail and exposure limits, i nearly maxed out noie reduction, but removes almost all the detail.

they were done to mimic a pastel or paint look. Farthest thing from realistic...on purpose.

here is an example of what im talking about. using the traditional methods of TOPAZ with some pics just looks terrible. This is why i decided to go with the smooth LOW detail version rather than the HDR(ish) look.

things to remember when using it topaz or any plugin for that matter....HIGH RES pics work best.

the animal pics were done from LOW res pics, so thats why there are some artifacts in there...

another cool effect for portraits is called smudge painting...check it out...its pretty cool.

awful looking topaz adjusted pic...way too much detail in this between the fur and grass...

Hey Paul I downloaded the trial and I love this plug in! Thanks!

So still loving this plugin, might have to break down and buy it. BTW Rev, any examples you've done?
Here is another one, didn't just use the presets, adjusted the parameters quite a bit.

here is one of my friends thai restaurant. The original lacked any pop, contrast, and had lots of noise due to low light.

also, the lighting while good for a restaurant, is terrible for photos. bright, direct, harsh light, and lots of shadows.

I think this really did a great job.

Junior, still looks to me like you can get the same results by making simple curves adjustments. Have you tried a comparison? Or is this just a curves automation tool and, therefore, the automation is the benefit?
