Tank looks same today, only totally neglected. I haven’t spent any time with them. Tank is still in limp mode. I’m so lazy, that plastic container is still magnetic on the side, only it’s full of growth and crud. Everything’s doing fine, just needs a good cleaning a lot more often that it doesn’t get, it could use a water change, hasn’t had any water changed since sometime last year I think. I’ll post an updated pic later today when I’m there.

Thought I’d share an update, not much happening. But I believe the pods and tiny crustaceans in our reefs consume any babies that are sexually released. Several times now I’ve sucked babies or eggs through the tips of the gigs, and within seconds there’s a group of pods waiting to receive them, and go running off and consume them. I’ve got a plastic container with magnets on the side of my glass at the top of my DT that’s been there for months, growth, and pods inside. I poked slits in the side of the container for flow. Light can be adjusted easily. I’ve observed these pods steal every single time. Last year I watched one pull the biggest baby I found floating, I put it in a shot glass in my sump thinking I’d go back tomorrow to set up a holding container, only a minute later to look inside and see a pod dragging it off into the rocks in my sump and disappear. These are a few pics to share.

Top pic is the pods that steal. They’re everywhere. I’m guessing there’s at least 50-75 tentacles that have these in them. A month ago there were none. I suspect any baby gigs raised in captivity will be intentional. Just my guess, wish I could find a gig bible to read.

I appreciate the thought. But Wrasse and mandarin are carpet food with wall to wall carpet. I have a build plan, just haven’t done it yet. This tank was an emergency temp move that’s going on a year and a half. FTS from today and a few close ups. Cleaned glass.

So I found this little guy yesterday. These Pics from yesterday. Mostly purple disk with a little green, and a tan foot to match the purple I posted with eggs above.

He’s not very happy today. Needs more flow but I have nothing that’s easy to set up right now. These pics from today.

Are you feeding him? I would give him tiny pieces of fish or shrimp.

No. I haven’t fed any of them since last year I think and maybe only once or twice. The only food this tank gets is 1 algae sheet per day for the fish. That’s it. I wish you lived closer so I could hand it off to you. I’d need a syringe to feed it. My gut thinking is purple is mom and one of the two greens is dad. About half the disk looks green. Color much better in person.

I was only there 20 minutes today. Here’s an interesting thing to note. I sucked another one out of the tents yesterday after this guy was in the container a while, and just like all the other times, those pesky pods take the tiny ones to eat. This guys the biggest one I found to date, half marble size. The pods leave it alone because it’s 10 x bigger than pods.

Now I’m eating my words... I guess they can grow unattended, just need to look more often.

Use forceps. Much easier to place a mysis right on the tentacles. It only take a second.

Fed this guy a tiny piece of scallop. Responded good, but lost all its color. I pulled back the lights a little. Looked pretty happy today. After it ate the food the column was plump and fat.
