Back in again. 75g sps build thread

I had no issues with Prazipro in a whole tank treatment. You can just treat their food if you are worried. There are also medicated foods you can try, but I have not used those before.
Just want to make sure I am understanding correctly. You treated a hole reef tank with Prazipro and its coral and invert safe? I have 2 shrimp in my tank along will my sps and other corals.

Yes. I did this almost a year ago. I have a boxing shrimp that I had at the time, along with peppermint shrimp, many hermits, and two urchins. They all survived. I only had to do one treatment as well. I followed the directions on the bottle to the letter.

Cool thanks. Looks like I will be getting some Prazipro and doing a food soak treatment.

Well I got my ReefBar and guess what. It does not work. Even tried a different power supply and nothing. I contacted the seller and will wait to hear back. Ordered some Prazipro as well.

Why do you use mh and not leds
Because MH rocks for growth and coral health. Spread from MH is great, with 2 light sources I totally cover my tank with plenty of quality light. I am old school with my methods. Along with the crazy high price of quality LED fixtures, 3 XR30 Pros is crazy money for me to spend. Maybe a Phonton V2+ but still pricey.

I would run MH but the cost of running them and the heat that comes off of them is high. I run leds only, i want to do a hybrid of led and t5 for more growth and coloration

Heat has never been an issue for me and I have been useing MH for a long time. I also live in Phoenix AZ and its hot most of the year here. My power bill went up $20 due to my reef tank. 3 XR30 Pros at 190w each would be more power usage by 70w than my 2 250w MHs. I dont think I would need to run them at 100%, maybe 65-70% so I figure the power savings would be a wash. Cost of bulb replacement is low as well and not a concern of mine at this point. I did a lot of research on lighting due tonthe advances over the last 5 years since I last had a reef tank. LED was highly considered but in the end the cost of what I wanted was just too high for me. I paid $100 for my MH setup used.

OMG wow! I have been lucky enough to honored as Reef Tank 365! Thanks everyone for your support and following along on this journey. I will be posting an update for this occasion, stay tuned.

How did you set up the MH

Current setup and my old setup. I copied the old one since it was cheap to make and worked. I have always done open top because it helps a lot with keeping the heat from the lights out of the water. If I have a MH T5 combo I woukd hang kt from the ceiling.

Here is the update as promised. Figured I would do a video for the Reef Tank 365. So honored by this.

Got my Reef Bar working, pretty impressed so far for the money. It lights up the tank pretty well for just a low powered cheap led. Corals pop under the blue like crazy. Need to mount it and program the Reef Keeper. Sorry for the crazy blue pics its was just the Reef Bar on and I used my S8 to take the pics. No filters ATM so it looks way blue but its pretty black light blue in person. Greens and oranges pop like crazy.

I picked up some used Red Sea test kits for cheap, used but thats ok. Alk test is odd because the instruction card shows a change to red when the test is done but I never got to red, I did get a solid change to yellow though and that put my alk at 8.1 dkh. Cal 410. Mag 1600 ppm+ not sure on that result but I am using RPM salt. No3 is still undetectable even with the Red Sea Pro kit and po4 is .08 ppm. My API kit test results came out the same alk 8, cal 440, no3 0 and po4 0. I was surprised to still see no3 at 0 ppm, even with my adding a large tang and feeding more still undetectable no3.

Still no No3 even with a more sensitive test kit, feeding more and adding the tang a little while back and that fish has big poops. The idea of remove my chaeto has crossed my mind once or twice... Corals are happy and color is pretty decent, have a few sps coloring up even, growth is good so I dont even know if I should be worried about 0 no3. I also got Red Sea Coral Nutrition A and B and have dosed that twice at half the dose. Interested to see if the aminos help.
