In the last 24-48 hours I've had two clowns come up missing. Nowhere to be found in the tank or on the floor around it. A mystery.

In the last 3.5 hours my wrasse has gone missing. It is not on the floor and I can't see it anywhere in the tank. My acid rain BTA is withdrawn into its hole but the fish was too big to fit in the hole with it.

They don't bury themselves, no fairies or flashers do. They can be skittish at first and swim into an anemone but I doubt a rose anemone would be able to catch it.

I had it for around a month. It was very sociable and always at the glass watching me clean. The biggest BTA I have is the acid rain BTA and it is only slightly bigger than the wrasse was. So, it would've had to catch it and digest it enough to shrink itself into its hole that is the size of a dime within 3.5 hours. It's not out this evening so I'm going to assume it's either gone or doesn't want to be seen right now.

BTA / Entacmaea quadricolor are not particularly aggressive. Do you possibly have a gorilla crab / pistol shrimp that may be picking fish off at night? I don't know your tank at all so cannot offer much advice but would suspect a predator of some sort, esp. if you've recently lost your clownfishes.

I have a 1" pistol shrimp that paired with my yellow watchman goby. I haven't seen it in a couple weeks which has been the norm for the 6ish months I've had it. Everything in my tank was dry when I started so I doubt I have a predator hitchhiker.

If a pistol is pairing with a goby it is not likely one of the more aggressive pistols out there. Sure there is no jumping or didn't end up in the overflow? If the fairy wrasse was out for a month and suddenly gone something likely got it. Do you have a cat in the house perchance? An inquisitive dog?

No cat in the house. I do have two dogs. They pretty much stay away from the tank unless I'm messing with it. That's not to say that if the fish jumped they wouldn't hear it or eat but not likely last night since they were put up during the disappearing timeframe. Also not in the overflow.

I figured I'd post some pictures as a bit of an update. Dealing with a little cyano right now, so I added a couple extra powerheads to get some more flow.

New candy cane added this week.
