Hello all! I've been posting here and there a bit but thought a quick into would be ok too. Not new to reefing, was into it pretty good from 1999-2005 but a blooming family and then a farming startup killed that hobby fast. So new to this community, previously my online connections were into IRC and the old news groups etc and reef central. Sure dates my sorry butt haha! Stumbled across this little gem and WOW! I'm super impressed with what's going on here, kudos to all the members and what the R2R staff is doing to bolster this community and the hobby itself. Here to stay I think...

So, with the long absence it's time to play catch up on all that's changed, evolved and new in the world of reef keeping since I've been gone. I see that it's no small list indeed. Got most of my tank quotes in and tweaked and should be pulling the trigger on a tank in the next week or two at most. Top contenders are Miracles, Planet, SCA and reef savvy. They all seem to bring something different to the table but none of them have everything i want, but that's ok. Surprisingly I've had the best customer service/response from Miracles and SCA to this point. Planet is a PIA cuz you can't work with them directly and inserting a middle man isn't very value added from a customer perspective. Reef savvy was slow to respond, but rumor has it they're always just swamped.

Previous tank was a 40B with sump/refugium etc, total system volume of about 70-80 gallons so i thought it would be appropriate to jump back in after 15 years by going completely overboard and getting a 180 gallon (72x24x25) tank since I'm a glutton for punishment. I look forward to starting my build thread soon as things get moving here. Look forward to conversing with you all and collaborating on future endeavors.

Thanks all!
