Bad fireworm?

Hi! I have seen lots of bristle worms in this hobby, but none like this guy! Could someone ID for me? Luckily it's not in my tank yet....

That Looks sorta like a wet cheerio but I wouldn’t eat it ... ugly

Bristleworm. When they get that size- not welcome in my tank. Tweezers or forceps- remove it and head for toilet

Wow that's massive! Yeah I havent seen any since I added my wrasse, mine were miniature compared to that though.

Are you thinking common bristleworm too?

Yeah, mine werent that coloration either. Interesting find, glad you were able to remove that.

Thinking that could be some type of fire worm check the bristles they're probably much different than most common bristle species.

Bristles are red at the base and white at the tips. I'm taking it into my LFS tomorrow to chop the coral off the rock because I don't want to risk anything.

Yeah definitely a fire worm of it has those secondary trufts of bristles too.

Had one like that in my 130 for several years with no ill effect. He was about 12-14 inches when I took the tank down. I caught him once but he chewed through the chain.

I got bristle worms in my 15g tank.I’m okay with them in there because they help with cleaning up the sand. I would think if the one in my tank got into that size, I’d evict him right away.

This isn't a common bristleworm. It's a bearded fireworm. Apparently my co-worker has seen them chew through mushroom corals before.
