I watched melevs "about water mixing station" from today, he said you want large pipes after hose barbs on pumps or at least on hi vectra, because the water is being squezed through the thin portion.

Why is this and do you always want larger pipe after hose barb fitting on pumps?

It has always been my understanding you want to never restrict the incoming flow to a pump. If it goes thru a barb before the pump, by having a large pipe you have more pressure / volume avail to the pump.

I think he was referring to after the pump, I think it was creating a restriction going up.. I think.
