That’s a ton of par. I took some readings with a par meter known not to be great for leds, which I have and got 350+ par in most locations on the rock and 200+ on the sand and my sps were paling big time.

I turned back my lights by about 30-40% and color started up. Everyone’s tank is different though.

What lights do you use?

I swapped out a Kessil/T5 hybrid for MH only just 2 weeks ago. I was still getting around 77,000 lux with the 2 360we Kessils at 80%int and 60%color and 4xT5s.

I have a kessil ap700 and the aquatic life T5 fixture.

My frag is currently on the frag rack getting a peak of 350 to 375 par for 4.5 hours. LEDs ramp from 0 to 200 par before the T5s turn on for the peak time. Total light time is 12 hours.
Looks like this but this picture is from a different spot where the leds only reach 100 before the T5s turn on, so I drew a blue line of what the par at the frag looks like

I started with 2x 250w MH on my 150g but switched to 4x GHL Mitras LX7s a few months ago. I used someone's preset lighting schedule which had some channels maxing out in the 90%+ range and it just was too much. As things start to grow and I get my nutrients up a bit I might slowly bump them up again over time, but for these little frags, they were getting fried.

LED and MH are a bit different though as far as intensity and par goes too, even though the Mitras don't have individual lenses on the leds.

Honestly I have no complaints. Granted, I have 4 of them over a 60x24x24 tank, but there are no shadowing issues as yet. We'll see when things get grown in. I really have just set them and let them be, which is the biggest challenge for me with LEDs. But, I see no reason I can't get as good of growth and color and success with them vs other light sources. They aren't for bargain reefers though, as they are a bit spendy.

Well my coral is still alive after I was gone a week, I am curious to what it will look like after my next long trip, I am going to Fiji I will post my picture tomorrow cause I won't have time and I will miss September

So, I just took the time to go back and start reading this thread from the beginning. Didn't have to read very much before I realized I didn't get my pic posted in a timely manner. I had the frag for a week or better before I snapped a pic....

I say your fine, as long as others agree. The time frame to post was so we can track all of who were in the contest and also to make sure the frag you get stays the same one from the beginning. We didn't want people waiting forever to post their frag and pop up with a pic much later, when we are trying to get the prize pool total. Also wanted to track people's frag from the get go and not have people kill their frag and order another and swap it out.

Also try and keep that thread strictly update pics and no discussion please.

The contest is full at this point. If we add people at this point it delays when the contest ends.

I’m a do my pick on the 20th to 22nd of every month whenever I have time really I actually just found a Nikon to try out see how it looks

What Nikon do you have? I just grabbed a Nikon D40 with 2 different lenses from my Dad. Still haven't had time to mess around with it though. Really hoping I have some free time this weekend.

Interesting turn of events for me today. Came home from work and one of my clowns appears to have brook. The 2 clowns I have never did get along to be honest. The affected one went through a Ruby Reef Rally bath for 90 minutes. And into a qt tank. I did not pull all fish as I just don't have time tonight. I only took out the affected fish. Hope it has to do with the bullying this fish took and no other fish show symptoms. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. I'll have to tear apart my rock work to get all the fish out for sure.

And my Snipers Blue frag grew another 4 inches today Everyone else might as well forfeit

I've seen this when clowns hosted a duncan coral. It did go away after a week or two. Takes a bit of time for the clowns to get used to a new host.
