According to my ICP test, my barium is very high, 120µg/l with suggested target of 10µg/l. Is this an issue? Triton suggested 4 15% water changes, which I did.

Holy moly, thx for sharing. I know it sometimes requires a bit of "put my pants down" and we all like to share the good stories rather than our issues ;-)

Ok, so on high Barium levels I'm not there to able to say what the highest acceptable Ba level is with no adverse effects! However, Barium is a metal and if you share your whole ICP I may be able to give you a hint of what sort of equipment might release the Barium. It's simply something in the tank that corrodes. Hence the Ba as it's individual element of something metallic in the tank accumulates until the piece that corrodes is completely gone. With the saltwater you have a traditional reverse electrolysis going on.

For example if you see also copper, Lithium, AL or Tungsten etc. that may explain and proof the theory. 120 microgram is for my taste extremely high and I know that Barium us toxic in high concetrations.
Wild guess would be a pump casing rotting apart. Tungsten indicates a heater that corrodes. And so on.

Theroetically those water changes bring down the Ba levels maybe 10 percent which is nothing! I would personally go ahead and search for rotting equipment and do 5x 25% Water changes, which would bring Ba down to 28.47 microgram per liter if nothing new accumulates, and considering no Ba in the salt mix which is very unlikely.

Ok, better than 10%, however still high with estimated 40-50microgram/liter with the recommended Triton WC's.

how did you increase Barium? I haven't been able to find an additive that can do it without causing a change in something else that would be going the wrong way for me.

Google for Barium Elements from ATI. They call them ATI Essentials, but check if there is anything other than Barium in it if you focus on Barium only!
However, wait for the ICP test results.

AL is above and off the charts outside the detectable ranges.
You need to dose Potassium asap to get it up to 400 at least / Random note
Silicon is pretty high too.
Li is high but many have this issue.
Po4 you should feed some more or reduce GFO use ;-)

Not other metals other than AL, Ba and Si !!!
So what is made out of that???

Do you have a UV sterilizer? If so, which type and model?

No UV sterilizer. Do not use GFO. I was thinking the issues were the marinepure blocks. Was surprised at how much they had deteriorated. I had a 4x8x8 and a 1x8x8. Took them out. Per Triton's recommendations, I've dosed

Magnesium, ​

Potassium, Boron and Iodine. They wanted a total of over 1400 ml of Mg, but I only did 1000ml. There were a few others they said were 'fine tuning' that I didn't do like Mo, V, Mn, Ni and Zn. Thinking the water changes might help with those. I'll be sending another test sample tomorrow.

Ok, AL can be from the blocks, that is a well known issue.
However the Silicates can be elevated from a bad RO/DI system.

Not sure if I do see the solution for these high Barium levels!
What salt do you use?

My TDS has been reading 1 for a few weeks. I'll change the Di resin. Changed all the filters a few months ago, maybe 3, along with just about everything else in the tank and sump, including the sump, when I decided to go full Triton. Could all the new plastic elevate silicates?
I switched from reef crystals to Red Sea in the blue bucket at the same time a few months ago. Have been through a full 175G bucket and started a second, just on this tank.

I did not change heaters. These are old. They are Finnex titanium heating tubes.

Don't worry too much about the silicates, they will be consumed naturally by algae and other microorganism slowly. You may have issues with Dinos, heard people with Chaeto get Si under control very quick temporarily.

Keep the Marine blocks out and watch AL in the tank over time.

But for Barium I'm still lost. I know there are other threads on R2R with the subject of high barium, sneak into those and see if it helps you to identify the source.
Otherwise you can only do wait with follow up tests if Barium stops to accumulate.
Heaters out of Titanium should be OK, you may want to install them so the head and rubber is not submerged if that is ok for the heater to work according to the operation instructions.

It actually browned out a bit with the move but all in all, I cant complain. Everything made it through the move without issue except for the monti undata but I'm pretty sure that is light related (receiving considerably more than it was before). If not, I'm tired of caring about that one as it's always a thorn in my side.

By the way, what food are you using if any?
PE on my one is similar, but a bit less.
Well, I'm off feeding still but plan to start feeding the corals soon.

@bubbaque , how is your PE coming along and what food are you using so far if any?
