Beecher Road - 1st Grade Class Tank

This is why I enjoy working on the club tank....getting to see the kids come through the museum and see them checking out the tank, and telling them the names of some of the corals and fish.

The nepthia can slime a lot and send toxins out. Lps like brains can be over sensitive to them. If the Favia begins to decline or keep closed, you may need to reconsider the nepthia. Use carbon and move as far apart as you can. May be fine for a while.

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe i'll make the nepthea smaller....I wonder if that has been making my torch in my home tank not as open as usual...there is a small piece of nepthea very close...hmmmmmm

They are very aggressive and toxic. I did not have too many issues with hammer or frogspawn, but I kept them separated in my 210g. Any lps closer than 8-12" would have problems. Beautiful but nasty too.

So I missed this Friday's update due to the FFM fun so here's a few updates.

Had to remove the Nepthea since it was stressing out some other corals in the tank. But, it was replaced with a beautiful Orange scoly, a torch, frogspawn and scarfsce paly.

Been awhile since we had an update but we went through a few changes. Had to take the angel out as he got a taste for corals. Was unfortunate cause the kids really liked her (Evelyn was her given name).

But they understood in order for the corals to live she needed to come out.

But we got a great donation of a Tyree Toadstool Leather from a local guy, Tweaked. Thank you very much, the kids love it!

Well it's a new school year and we got a new tank upgrade!! From 25 gallon to a new IM 40 Fusion!!! Tank was installed yesterday with existing rock and some new sand! AI prime providing the awaiting corals some light and hopefully a tunze 9004 skimmer to go with it! Jaebo PP-8 for in tank flow!

Any updates? Is this tank still up and running in a classroom?

My wife has been an elementary teacher for over 20 years and I have always wanted to try something like this but there are so many hurdles.
