I was in the hobby for 13-16 years, out 13 years due to kids and back in about a year. My head is about to explode trying to figure out all the new stuff. I’m currently trying to figure out what dino outbreaks are, lol. I have no clue, maybe the red slime that makes bubbles I sometimes get. I have messaged several people about all kinds of stuff. Some want to talk, some don’t respond. It’s so much easier than searching through all the posts. I got a lot of information from Ty Ta. I’m not sure if he has the same name on here as FB, but thank you! When I left the hobby, I actually saw the very first LED set and it was too expensive for me. Everyone was also trying plenums or deep sand beds, now people go without sand all together. Luckily, my wife doesn’t know about the hobby much so I’m going big from the start, 310 gallons is ordered. I like gadgets too much so I want a sump, but will get a IM for a quarantine tank or for small inverts. I’ll prob start my own thread for help, but will follow this one. I already preordered a sulfur denitrifier, was that a bad idea? I always told myself I would never get a calcium reactor again, but of course I preordered one. Now you don’t have to count bubbles, you pretty much dose them. That bubble count was my enemy back then. I’ll be doing a mixed reef tank, some fish, but not a ton. I seem to get upset when an expensive fish dies but not a coral, maybe because it’s not instant. When I left the hobby, the main site for fish was Flying Fish Express, then it became Dr Fosters, now its Live Aquaria I think. Marine Depot was great to keep up on information as a beginner, but Bulk Reef Supply is more scientific and the best for info on YouTube I have seen so far. Follow some other people on YouTube or get advice from others. Other people I follow on YouTube: Reef Builders, Reef Dudes, Mr Saltwater Tank (I love seeing his builds for the rich people).
