Best $12 i spent in a while

Those super small openings on the hanna vials are one of the reasons I rarely use hanna anymore.

And when they're not screwed on the Hanna vial... you can stick one in each eardrum to hear better

Hanna has stated that there is more than enough reagent in each reagent packet to get the color change even if you don't get all of it into the cuvette. they put extra in each packet expecting that you will spill a little. it doesn't affect the test.
But in my mind the whole process should be improved. The technology is there. The process of the reagent and sample water going into to checker needs to be simplified. This coming from someone that’s never used a Hanna device...Lol

I saw these on FB and like the memes say, Take My Money.
It is pretty cool, they screw onto the Hanna vial and the mouth of the funnel is large enough that chances are, you won't miss pouring in the reagents. I got one for each of my test kits to avoid cross contamination.

What impressed me was the fit and the size of the funnel.

Yeah, insignificant things can excite lol

Could you please post the link ?

I don't really see this as any better than folding the packet into an easily pourable spout and dumping it into the cuvette.
As someone who's eyesight is declining (and I'm only 41) AND as someone with shaky hands (always been that way), it's easy to miss. Sure, I get 99% of it in the vial, but the problem is that it just takes a few little crystals missing the vial to leave purple and green and blue stains on the counter.

First they have to figure out the technology to properly mark the vials. The 10ml lines are all over the place. Some high, some low. Most of mine are probably closer to 9ml.
I really need to calibrate my auto pipette and see where those marks actually are....which then begs the question, do you fill them to the line marked 10ml or to 10ml?

THIS ^

I never use the lines anymore and only use syringes to fill the same 10ml all the time.

Where can I order this

Question. There are warning labels all over these packets . Toxic . Pirate . Plague . Covid . whatever else nasty and dangerous is in these packs.

I use the reagants and have gotten good at cutting and pouring however once in awhile powder does get out onto my coffee table and or my carpet below

My question is this how toxic is this stuff in these packs. To myself ? To my cat ? To future son who will be born this April ?

Here ya go, hope this helps

Yeah, that looks like a resin 3D printer made those. I was trying to make a threaded funnel for some non-Hanna test tubes with a conventional 3D printer and it wasn't happening. I ended up just tweaking the diameter of the tip so that I get a nice snug fit inside the test tube.

I fill with an electronic syringe tip pipette which has proven to be quite accurate with larger volumes (10-50 mL) when I checked calibration using an analytical balance. The lines on the two vials that came with my Hanna HI782 appear to be in agreement.

Hanna uses zinc instead of cadmium for their medium range (or is it high range?) nitrate test so it's not quite as bad.

But what if some of the reagent sticks to the funnel?
This just adds an unnecessary step in my view.
I don't really see this as any better than folding the packet into an easily pourable spout and dumping it into the cuvette. This just introduces more room for error.

and now you have a funnel to clean each time too.

I have some of the funnels and have been more than pleased. After I ordered the funnels, I saw these test kit storage trays on his FB page. They keep everything handy. Also 3-D printed.

The lines on all my vials aren't even at the same height. I'll have to remember to to fill them all up to 10ml and take a picture side by side to see how many of the lines are too high vs to low.

Great idea; I've been using these

Only $4 for five on Amazon, but like your recommendation better.
This is what I use. Although the other is very neat idea…you’d need to unscrew those things every time you wash a vial. Not sure if that’s worth it if you do a lot of testing. You could probably leave them on, but I’d worry about liquid getting under them and in the threads possibly skewing test results.

I prefer the screw-on funnel and at 67 years of age, I still have the energy to unscrew it after testing and rinse it off. ;Happy
