I really want to focus on the high end stands. Ones that are made from hardwood like walnut/cherry and avoid the typical 2x4 stands.

Also want to see all of the unique features that take stands to the next level.

Pics and descriptions!

Saw this on lumberjacks.com
I love the simple shaker style with inset door.

One of my favorites. BRS 160 stand.

It is simply beautiful. Love the style and how you can actually see under the stand. Helps it not feel so “heavy” in the room.

I don't know if you would call these high end, but my old man had the rough sawn lumber in his garage for many years and I planed and jointed the boards myself. I glued them together to make panels and built them myself. The first one was for practice for my 5 gallon beta tank. It is made of ancient cherry with a cow horn spike deer antler for the handle. I did not like the hinges, so that helped guide me on the primary build which is for my 32 gallon biocube. It is made from ancient black walnut. The handle is a plank with live edge (hard to see it good in the pic). the high quality of the wood enhances their appearance despite my sophomoric carpentry. They are finished with a butchers block food grade product consisting of mineral oil and bees wax.

I am a huge fan of 80/20. Any future stands will be made of it just for sheer utility. it can also be clad with hardwood, which I hope to do with mine eventually.

My husband made this for my Lagoon 25. Had a local shop use a scrap piece to make a granite top for it, also has a bunch of cool storage shelves inside. I was pretty impressed!

Can you please tell us what hardware/pieces you use to mount the PVC to those 8020 pieces on the back in the picture

Thanks! I just went through your build thread. Looks like your Stand was an alternative and its now worked out great! I am planning to also build the 8020 stand and I’m worried that a 5 foot span without a center vertical brace in the middle is not enough support for my 150 but Yours is the same dimensions in and even wider tank than mine so maybe my concern is overrated? Do you have any observations are changes that you would make to the stand, structurally? Also if you don’t mind did you use plywood below the tank above the stand?

Structurally I love the design the entire bottom area is open. The stand is solid as a rock. I used 1/2" expanded pvc board under both my tank and my sump which both sit on 3/4" Styrofoam insulation.
My goal and I think I succeeded to make a stand that will never rot either with spills or humidity.

Good thing about 8020 you can take multiple designs and integrate as needed, i did a mix of 1530 top with 1515 legs and bottom, also combined gussets with anchors, expanded pvc under sump and corian top surrounded by stressed oak with layered stain and paint

Where can we see this stand of yours?

Edit: hehe found it!
But no build thread:(

I found a guy on Etsy to build mine. I wanted something taller than average with an overhang. It’s hard to photograph because it’s black but here’s a pic:

It has two doors in front and a door on each end.

Im adding to my cart all the pieces I need to build the stand and coming to the supports. I see you already have the top stacked on the four legs so do the angles supports really do anything ?
