Best ATO on the market?

No their pump is like $100. I had a maxi jet it was using with jbj so just used that and it works great

I really like the Tunze Osmolator myself. I have also had good luck with the JBJ brand but not as precise.

Tunze Nano Osmolator. Less than $100 but you do HAVE to keep the float clean.

AVAST marine all day! I'm a Tunze fan and have had a bazillion different top off units but by far, the AVAST ATO is top notch, inexpensive, super simple, American made and super reliable. Customer service is top notch as well.

If there is a cost effective option out there that will connect to my apex and is fail proof, thatd be great. If not it looks like the spectrapure is a pretty safe bet, I may try it.

I have a spectrapure litermeter that I use for a continuous water exchange. Im not certain but I believe their ATO unit probably uses the same type of pressure switch as the avast. The avast ato switch runs around $90. Add on another $100 if you want their peristaltic pump. You might also be able to just use a powerhead to pump the water from your ato container. That is what I use.

Nothing on our tanks is 100% fail proof, but using your apex to control your ato will get you as close as anything out there. The simplest thing to do would be to code it so that the ato pump can only run a little bit longer than it normally takes to top off your tank. That way if for some the switch fails and the pump keeps running it will time out before it dumps a bunch of water into your system. If you're using kalk water for your top off water, you can monitor your tanks pH to shut down your ato if something goes wrong. Heck there is probably a way to have your apex send you an email if something goes wrong.

I use the Avast and an aqualifter though I did recently purchase their new diaphragm pump that I've tested (works better than aqualifter but is louder) but haven't implemented yet.

I use the Tims aqualifter as well. Can't go wrong for less than 20.00. I have been running this set up for a few years now. Never have had any issues at all. I love AVAST products
