Best fish for sps tank

If you want a fish that does well in loose groups, isn’t too aggressive, and has out of this world color, get a small group of Allen’s damsels:

I might have to find this online

Typically, there isn’t enough live rock in a 40 gallon tank to support a mandarin long term... unless the refugium is bigger than the tank itself. Some say you can supplement frozen, culture pods, feed baby brine, etc etc etc... in my experience it always fails eventually. I’ve killed a couple myself- trying everything under the sun, only had success long term (2 years and counting) when I upgraded to a 120...

I’m sure there’s a few exceptions, but as a general rule it’s very risky.
yea i have a mandarin in my 40 and he is happy as hell i have an insane population of pods and when i dont see them on the top of my refugium i just throw in a bottle of copepods from @reefnutrition. or is there another factor why you say mandarins dont do well on a 40 gallon ?

That’s awesome. How long has he been in there? Sometime people say X is happy but they’ve had it for only a few weeks to months, when it may take even longer for some things to ‘starve’.

alot of people round here have pipefishes in the sps tanks they look insane and pick the bugs even redbugs.
