tunze 9004 dc controlable works great on my 40 breader

How long have you had it?

I originally used it on my 30 reef with 2 dwarf lions, it was a workhorse pulling heavy gunk. I then temporarily used the pump on a eshopps 100 sump skimmer body on a 90g. Now's it's doing duty on a 40b grow out tank with a messy juvi jeweled moray a 2 baby triggers. So total over 2 years usage; I think it's the same pump used on the 75 and 100, a sicce se-200 a great pump.

That's beautiful. Definitely looking for something like that :D! They also have a 2 year warranty on their pumps in case anything does fail!

I have the AquaMaxx ConeS HOB, it is on sale now but still about 50 bucks more than the Eshopps or Bubble Magus. It has a Sicce needlewheel pump, the design is pretty solid. Pulls a lot of dark stuff out.

I'm using it on a IM Nuvo 25 lagoon, a heavily fed angler and some softies.

Two issues: I have a white one, it is not inconspicuous, it is also not small. It is kinda like having a beluga whale stuck to your tank.

But it is a great performer. I paid over 3 bills but it is a steal now.

I have an Aquamaxx HOB-1 used < 1yr for sale pretty cheap if interested. Worked great on my 60G.

So it's been about 2 weeks since the skimmer has been up. It had a TON of microbubbles first but after breaking in (about 5ish days) It has some awesome skim. This is a slighly stocked 40b (about 3ish days of skim)

Very happy with it :)

Also very easy to adjust as long as you're patient with it!

Excellent, told you that puppy was a work horse. If you want to make it dead silent, get a pill bottle. Drill a hole in cap to fit over the standpipe(I forget I think it is 1.5") and a small hole in the bottom of the bottle. Forgive the nastiness of the top of the tank, it's a grow out tank with a juvi jeweled moray, moving to a 125 in about 3 weeks.

Oo I'll try it out! Mine isn't all that loud though.

Reef Octopus BH-90…its a workhorse.

@reefrider777 I just installed mine after much research, it seems like a tank with great foam and power. I'm getting a loud gurgle/running water sound from the return pipe. I've barely had it running for a week so I know it has some breaking in to do over the next few weeks. But the loud gurgle just seems off to me. What did yours sound like vs once it broke in? and are you still using it a year later?

I still use it. It might be an air pocket in the return pipe. Do you have the silencer installed? Plug the intake hole of the silencer with your finger and see if that forces the air bubble out of the return by increasing the water into the skimmer.
