Best hob skimmer

I'm in the same debate on which hob to get because I don't have a sump. A big thing I hear is that hob skimmers some times over flow and the aquamaxx has an over flow precaution which you might want to consider

That is one thing I saw and liked.

I just replaced my in the sump skimmer, a vertex I think, with my old Deltec HOB. I'm loving it, it is so much quieter. I'd check out the used equipment classifieds and you can find a good deal on a lot more skimmer for the money than a new one. That's how I got into the Deltec. It's been a couple of years on my other tank and still works like a champ. Definitely go for a quiet skimmer.

Reef octopus BH90. It will Rock your tank. It's a cone skimmer and has all the features of top tier skimmers. Runs my 12 year old overstocked 45 gal like a dream.

I've had the remora also it's a good skimmer but IMO doesn't compare to the BH90. It's dead quiet and pulls some serious crap. It's under $200 also.

I have a reef octopus bh2000 and it was good. I liked the external pump becuase snails always jumped in.way easier to clean.

Wow thanks for all the input. I have some things to consider. Keep this thread going. What hob do you like. I will check the classified and look for a deal. I am very appreciative of the input.

go with the bh 90 by reef octopus its more controllable then the bh100 and its a cone skimmer so you can't go wrong.
