BEST POWER HEAD OR WAVE MAKER
I HAVE 48X30X20 RIGHT NOW I HAVE 2 MP 40 IS THERE A BETTER POWER HEAD OF WAVE MAKE ITS AN SPS REEF WITH OPENSCAPE

I think this question is a double edged sword. But I can say I personally have three Neptune Wavs in a 220 and they work great. Make my 6' tank stupid turbulent if I even play around with them near 100%

Not really ! I use two mp40s and two wav pumps , I like my mp40s better I have had them running for seven years the wavs are less than a year old . The mp40s are definitely easier to maintain.

Tough to beat 2 mp 40’s on that tank imo. Have you looked at the maxpect gyres? I had an old noisy one that I removed, but the flow was great. I heard the new ones are quiet.

What’s ‘best’ threads always make me laugh. Best is entirely subjective, so impossible to answer. Broadest flow, most reach, most reliable, least in-tank profile, greatest value ...... Based on my own calculation for value, I favor the vortech pumps. I don’t personally like the WAV as I just find them too temperamental. The hydro wizard line is interesting, though very expensive. Tunze probably the most reliable. Beyond that just a bunch of less expensive pumps that converge into sameness.

I just got 2 Jebao SOW-15 and they work great. Easy to setup and really strong. I have them on the lowest setting and they give me great flow in a 100 gallon long.

Put your 2 MP40s on the back wall and 2 of the new quieter 300 series Gyres on the ends of your tank. That way, you’ll have the best of both worlds!

The MP40s look great and put out great flow. I use two MP60s and two Gyre XF280s in my 425g

They all run at 100% for a significant portion of the day. The gyres need constant repairs and bushing replacement. The MPs just keep on pumping.

I’ve used Vortechs, Gyres, Wavs and Korillias in my 16-17 years of reefing. I would say the Vortechs have worked the best for me. Most reliable, easy to clean, and great programmability.

I bit on the gyre hype at first. They're a high maintenance powerhead and a royal pia to clean imo. The type of flow was awesome though. I couldn't turn them up real high without creating a tsunami in a 72 x24 tank

This is lots of help. I’m waiting for delivery of 48x20x24 tank. I have an mp10. Also have a hydro koralia. I want something that’s not going to take up too much space in the tank. I was thinking thinking of going with 2 mp40’s Haven’t really heard anything about the Nero’s aside the million unboxing YouTube videos. And I’ve heard the new gyres are quiet but I’ve heard of maintenance nightmares.

Tunze all day everyday. Yeah they're not as pretty as the Nero or the MPs, but can't beat that German made quality!
