BEST POWER HEAD OR WAVE MAKER

This is lots of help. I’m waiting for delivery of 48x20x24 tank. I have an mp10. Also have a hydro koralia. I want something that’s not going to take up too much space in the tank. I was thinking thinking of going with 2 mp40’s Haven’t really heard anything about the Nero’s aside the million unboxing YouTube videos. And I’ve heard the new gyres are quiet but I’ve heard of maintenance nightmares.

If you plan on keeping the MP10 for that tank, be sure to use the adhesive wire supports. MP10s don’t do so well on anything over 3/8” thick glass.

I’ve used Vortechs, Gyres, Wavs and Korillias in my 16-17 years of reefing. I would say the Vortechs have worked the best for me. Most reliable, easy to clean, and great programmability.

Are you able to program these with the APEX or do you have to stick with the respective powerhead apps?

MP60’s. They are 20 better than the MP40’s

There are a few ways to do it. With Apex you can buy a module called a WXM, that lets you fully control and program your Vortech's and Radion Lights. The other way is to use the ReefLink Bridge that connects you wirelessly to the devices and you have to use EccoTech Live to do programming.

I sold my MP40's to go with the new OctoPulse 4's. I am going to run 4 of them. I can give you my impressions on them soon. I saw them at MACNA and they were amazing. I like its not a straight flow unlike the MP's. Once you have set it, that is where it goes, with the OP you can angle them. I hate the wire in the tanks, but I will give up aesthetics for angle options!
