Best Pump for basement sump?

All I know is 82 DB is reference sound for THX theaters. I'm not a pump salesman and I'm telling you, you can't hear it.

I'm not doubting you. :)

I can't hear my Eheim or Quiet One when they run either, so it's not unbelievable at all. ;)
(Install issues are behind most pump noise.)

Mostly just wondering for reference. :)

Apparently comparing in dB's isn't so easy without a common reference or common monitoring hardware. (Like a calibrated mic for my iPhone.)

We have sunlight as a standard for comparing light measurements. No idea what's that standard for comparing sound measurements to though.

Any chance you have an iPhone and can use the same app I'm on (Decibel X and SoundMeter are the two I've used so far), so at least we're both using something comparable (ie. equally inaccurate) to measure?

(Accoding to the studies on that link, sound monitoring on Android is completely hit or miss, FYI, so has to be iPhone-iPhone to compare.)
