I am looking to aquascape some real reef rock out of the tank. I am between e macro pink mortar or just use some putty like JB weld or the pink DD stick with supper glue

I used aquamaxx reef welder plastic epoxy glue for a small tank, about a month ago, and I noted there is some black algae? growing only on this plastic glue joints, even in the shaded areas, which I brushed easily off and suck it out with the turkey buster. No corals or fish yet, and ambient light for now. Anybody has more experience with this aquamaxx reef welder?

E-Marco 400 is my recommendation. I used it in my tank and it holds a 15lb rock at a 90 degree no problem.

Your rock needs to be dry for E-Marco 400.

I had all the rock stacked, but then had a few small avalanches!
I got some Tunze Coral Gum and stuck it all back together...seems to be working well.

...it is very pink against my VERY green algae covered rocks.

I used Reef Crest Aquaweld. It's a thermoplastic that comes in white or the slightly more expensive coralline purple. Get it hot, mix it, stick it and it cools and hardens. 100% reusable and is quite durable.

Can't say to longevity as a week after I stuck my rocks together I had to take everything out to dose copper. However what I can say about it, is it stuck so well there's still some chunks I couldn't tear off my live rock. Super long work time out of water, but a solid 30 seconds underwater and holds just as good.

I got the white variety as my lfs was out of the purple, and it stands out VERY obviously under blue lights, but it will eventually get covered in algae. Press some sand/substrate/rubble into any exposed material to cover it up.

Whats the best Putty or Glue for Live Rock Aquascaping??
I used the AquaStik Stone Grey but didnt set quick enough for me and didnt bind to the rock that good..

https://www.marinedepot.com/aquamaxx-reef-welder-epoxy-glue-purple. These are beads you heat with warm water and they make a putty. Put between rocks. Strong and no odor. They come in mixed purple/white or white. Excellent product. Not messy at all.

FYI, my way of dealing with the LR issue:
This may seem a bit nuts, but I drill holes in the LR and take white plastic clothes hangers, cut them in pieces and stack the LR any way I please.
The cool thing is, It can be taken apart anytime, re-scaped, and holes not used fit frag plugs perfectly.
I have been doing this for many, many years without any bad effects on livestock, water parameters, or any testable problematic possibilities.
FYI, My own DIY. No glue, No putty, no worries and have never had an avalanche. LOL

Some time ago I switched to the Tunze Coral Gum. I know it's more expensive than Aquastik and some others, but I like it better for two reasons. 1- you use a very small amount of this stuff compared to other epoxy solutions. 2- It sets fast and it won't drive your skimmer crazy!
