best radion setting to make sps colors pop

If your nitrates and phosphates are truly at zero then they're not perfect especially for color in Sps. I'd try to maintain nitrates between 5-10 and phosphates between 0.03-0.05
What are you using for test kits?
Also with that low of nutrients have you been dosing anything or feeding smaller foods your Sps can capture? I find Acropower to help with coloration in Uln settings. Also using reef chili or coral frenzy once a week or so can be very helpful imo...
this sums it up imho

true 1 ppm nitrate and sps colors pale.
anything less than .02 ppm po4 and sps pale.

I run my radions pretty white during midday. My schedule goes from deep blue to almost 12k for 4 hours and slowly back to deep blue. I feed an obscene amount. My sps are pretty colorful. Some could be better but very few are "brown"...

you know i just checked my ca and its at 380 i hadnt checked it in a while do you think they can have some affect?
Yeah I agree with the above comments, 380 Cal is a little low but not something that should be causing problems.
How are you maintaining your Cal and alk? Hand dosing or automated doser? Do you have a ATO? Keeping all your important parameters steady and consistent is probably the #1 most important thing with Acro's and in general, all Sps.

There is a good radion setting group on Facebook. Where you can down load settings. Great group of users.

i hand dose. im using tropic marin

Strange OP never addressed the 0 no3 and po4??
There is a lot of learning to be done!!
Lighting is only ONE factor.
Your looking to your lighting to make the best color... won't happen

There's way to many people out there telling everyone to lower their nutrients or they'll have algae every where without taking the time to explain you can't just bring NO3 and PO4 down to 0... I thought the same thing for awhile when I first started keeping Sps.

i struggled with my radion gen3 pro for over a year trying to change settings, intensity, length of time the lights were on, etc. i was never satisfied with the growth of my corals but the colors always looked awesome. i just switched over to a 8blub ati sun power and sold my radion. i think that for me the radion just has too many settings and i just could never find the right one for my personal tank (everyone is slightly different). i had my best lick with the "radiant" setting at 55% intensity about 15" from the water line. also i think part of my issue with the radion was that it doesnt give the coverage that you might think you would get from it...i had 1 gen3 pro over a 66galloon 32x24x20. i think if i turned the light front to back and added a second one i would of had better success than 1 light going length wise. of course you can grown anything you like in the sandbed including acros-lol-but the corals off to the side of the light shield lacked color for sure. i actually added 4 t5 bulbs in additional to the radion and things went alot better for me but at the end of the day its just too much of an energy draw. now i will jsut run the 8bulb sun power with a single strip of the reefbrite blue strip to the front for blue pop. not much less of an energy draw but im curious to see how much more growth i do or dont get with the t5's set up. good luck

im new to reefing. this is my first sps tank i had a softie before not much to it i guess. Please enlighten me im open to suggestions and opinions :)
Ive been told before that my tank was too clean lol at this point im afraid my corals have gotten use to it. How would you recommend i increase po4 and no3?

Let us know how the switch goes for a while i thought about adding a couple of t5s to my set up but i dont have the a way to do it without some type of diy project or adding a canopy and im not a fan of canopies nor am i a diy type guy i wish i was though lol

your absolutely right when i got into sps everywhere i read it said keep nutrients as low as possible if you can keep it at 0 that is best lol. ive yet to lose a coral of any type in 8 month life of reef tank but i feel my colors could be better. i really appreciate this cause if it wasnt for this thread i created i would have never thought its more than just lighting to get the best colors from your acros/corals.

for sure i will do a post after a couple months so i can give it a true test drive. and yes i did have to do a diy project build on a hood. spaced 2 t5s to the front and 2 to the rear of the radion.

your tank is gorgeous!!!

so I increased the my whites to 30% and here is what it looks like. its a cell phone pic for some reason it looks more blue than what it actually is.

Probably shouldn't increase then that fast. I'd ramp them to 30% over a couple weeks. To much white light to fast could shock and bleach your coral.

i did it yesterday. i thought about it after but it seems like they like it i see more polyp extension. i didnt want to ramp it back down i dont want to keep messing with the light. Hopefully i dont lose anything with my sudden change :/

I'm sure your Acropora will love it but if I was you I would do 20% and use the acclimation mode to hit 30%. You have to let them adjust or you'll do more harm than good. One day means nothing really and if your zoas don't like the white! [emoji20] slow and steady wins the race....[emoji4]
