Best salt atm

I’m a hardcore stick guy and use Red Sea blue bucket. Absolutely love this salt.

Considered the blue bucket but not going SPS dominant quite yet. Only read good things about the blue bucket though

A lot of us this Live Aquaria’s salt is really rebranded Fritz RPM. Often times it goes on sale for like $39.99.

Unfortunately live aquaria isn’t available locally. Options are limited here

red sea coral pro is the one i've been using for 2 years now. makes all the coral happy

Anyone have experience with Red Sea coral pro and fritz rpm? Quite different salts but curious on experiences

used tropic marin, both classic and pro for a long time.

recently switched to TLF accurasea, for their convenient 5 gallon pre measured packaging.
i run a smaller tank now, and only mix up 5 gallons at a time.
mixes clear in under 15 minutes.
triton tested as advertised. i like it.

Yea they claim 7 I was just saying mine usually mixed at 6.5 so I always had to add alk

Got it.

Personally I don’t think I’ll ever switch from this salt. I get the argument that “salt is just salt” but I do believe in quality components and getting what you pay for. Sometimes people just want the best of the best for certain things.

I don't see any love here for the AF Reef Salt which I used for almost a year from start up. Loved the stuff. Mixed up very quickly and clear. Saved my butt a few times when I needed salt on the spot. Did seem to give me very high mag levels though

The salt mix isn't going to make a difference for anyone, regardless of what they try to tell you. I use Instant Ocean; cheap, consistent, and easy to find. Only thing I do to it is drop the alkalinity because I keep it around 7 dkH.

Fwiw, I've been using RC for two years now and have never had a problem. The (few) acro's that I do have seem to be growing at an awesome rate. Sure, there may be better salt mixes out there, but if it ain't broke then dont fix it. Hard to beat 200 gallons for $45.

The only downside is yes, RC mixes to a pretty high alk of around 11dkh, but over the course of the week my alk usually drops down about 0.5dkh (haven't bothered to bump up my doser yet), so my 5 gal weekly water changes seem to perfectly compensate for this.

I think the best thing is to find a tank you'd like to emulate and see what they're using, as opposed to asking a broad audience and getting a broad array of answers.

My personal choice is IO. I based that off of @Russo757 and his build thread. I think few would argue that he has some of the best looking coral specimen on these forums, and he uses IO.

Most of the totm threads I’ve read all use instant ocean. That is why I use it too. I am getting great results.

Watch Tropic marin salt as it pretty much crashed my farm from an excess in trace.... used to be all about it but now I’m all about Red Sea blue bucket. Please don’t chance Tropic marin.

Also three other vendors I know has a boarderline crash from Tropic marin. Be aware! Literally two hours after a WC water was merkey and corals were shot

That’s where your wrong brotha! Salt is the biggest factor!!! Lack of trace or too much of and it’s going to show in sticks. I promise you

This is what I use. It’s been good to me and it costs the same as RedSea blue bucket where I get it from.

I would love to try TMP but online here it is very expensive. Basically double.

Another ESV fan. I’ve tried a lot of them. It does take more time to
mix but it’s ready and clear.

I am currently using Red Sea blue bucket which has been good. I did want to switch to Tropic Marin, but is their salt able to be mixed and used on the spot?
Absolutely
I mix in a 3 gallon bucket, shake, shake, shake and pour it in as soon as the temp is close
