Best salt mix

You are right! I guess it does sound I am! I guess I am!! Lots of people have sucsses with this salt. I didnt! And some had the same Problem as mine. Its weird! The OP ask whats the best salt, And Im just saying what happened to me. My problem was the red sea salt. Not my lights, not my water or anything else.

How was this proven though? I'm very curious how a salt mix can cause this sort of reaction. Did you contact RedSea?

I have two answers and I will leave it up to you and your ethos. The best could be the one that fits your budget, or the one that's easiest available.

Do you want the best scientifically available? Or the most closest to natural saltwater? Do you think synthetic can be better?

Most scientific studies will match salts to natural saltwater. In that case then it may not be easiest available and might only be found online where you live.

Red sea and instant ocean are most widely best in USA while reefers best salt is just one premium salt. I can send you links to my studies if you like...hope that helps!

Petsmart has a sale on Instant Ocean 160 gallon bucket salt- $32- original price was $64. sale ends tomorrow, July 5th
That was a deal! I got my share of salt mix of everything in my area within an hour. I dont know how but my buckets at Petsmart were $5 cheaper than that. I paid $27! [emoji41]

I am in the market for salt and every thread I read has mixed reviews. Currently using natural sea water from the beach a few miles away so not sure what is best for me, but I need something!

You just need to understand the pros and cons of the mix you pick. Every mix has some merits and some possible issues, IMO. FOr example, the relative alk and calcium level, which you may need to account for in how you supplement calcium and alkalinity.

Example:

I used limewater (kalkwasser) for all calcium and alkalinity for 20 years. It causes a very slow boost to calcium relative to alkalinity, so I used a lower calcium, higher alk mix (regular IO). :)

Not really sure what my needs are other then a stable reef tank.
There a lot of factors.

This being one of them.

Look for the one that has the parameters you and your tank like. Some salt mixes are high in calcium and Alk, so if you're not aiming for those numbers then get a mix that has numbers closer to what you want to keep your tank at.

I have good results with RC, but RC Alk is just as high as RSCP. I personally like Red Sea regular better.
