Tek lights are awsome. As far as bulb combo id do 3 blue bulbs and 3 white bulbs to give the even look. With t5s theres so many color combos u can do and im not really up to par on them so hopefully some one will chime in!

I run a 72" Aquatronics Constellation T-5HO, 14-39 watt bulbs and LOVE it on my 200 gal , they make a 48" version , and 24" that i have seen in action as well ,, all 3 are quality fixtures ,,and can grow anything in the tank , SPS or not

i disagree on that totally bc a NEP doesnt really have slrs, it is one big piece thats contoured, also ballast on each unit are different. Tek lights are one of the best t5 fitures around, there ballast are better and they actually use SLRs

FYI your fixture is very important ,,, ballasts , fan placements , reflectors , heat issues , bulb longevity . bulbs make things grow, your fixture makes it glow.

Explain to me how that makes them so much better, because if I understand you correctly, you are saying that the Nova fixture has a single reflector that is contoured and formed around each bulb, and the Tek fixture as the same thing, but six separate pieces? So if I was to cut the Nova reflector between each bulb, I would have the same thing? And that makes it more efficient?

And I am confused how you "totally disagree" with my statement that bulbs are responsible for growth and color, and you agree with someone else that said the same thing.

Not disagreeing with the bulbs, but the fact u said fixture doesnt matter, and its not actually totally contured like SLRs, look at a NEP and look at a tek light, HUGE difference when it comes to the slrs. Also it doesnt matter how great of a bulb u have if you have a crappy ballast running it. Im just saying fixtures make a huge difference, if they didnt then why would a fixture with 4 t5ho bulbs 48 inchs from fishneedit.com cost 130 bucks vs 400 for a tek light
It's the combination of the bulbs, ballasts, reflectors, and cooling ability. If any one of those suck, you are missing out. Phil is right about the reflector issue between the Tek and NEP. There also appears to be a pretty big difference between the ATI powermodule and the Tek (hence the difference in price).
As far as fixture, I run a Tek 8-bulb. My bulb combo is 4 ATI Blue Plus, 2 KZ Fiji Purple, and 2 UVL Super Actinic. This is a combo that was put together by one of the more knowledgeable members of our local club with great success. We actually refer to it as the "Kirk Combo".

ok this question went off subject and i guess i phraced it wrong. i have the six bulb ati sunpower and want six new bulbs, what would you saggest i would rather growth over color but love atinics
