Best way to feed acans and what?

Feed mine reef roids, they seem to love it. Every once in awhile I’ll give them mysis shrimp.

Anything meaty, agreed. Chopped mysid or rods type food works. I also really like Fauna Marin LPS food.

I find that they will feed at just about anytime if food is placed on them, but obviously nightime will have the best response. They usually will stick out a few feeders at fish feeding time also so dropping during that time will induce feeding response usually. I also usually grind up and/or soften the LPS food with selcon to allow it to eat easier, this is usually necessary for chalice for me tho as Acans can certainly eat a pellet with no problems but I do think the selcon provides a strong feeding response along with softening so easier to feed.

I feed them reef roids and mysis shrimp. They tear it up. Just make sure the fish stay away as they will try to eat what is in the acans mouth and possibly hurt them. I spot feed them with a turkey baster.

Mine tried to do the same, they are worse than the fish. The best way to feed acans, though it takes a while, is to cut the top off of a 2 lt soda bottle and tape it to the turkey baster. You feed the acans and wait for them to close around the food before moving on.

Never thought about that before, I usually take a syringe and feed the shrimp/fish before hand

Totally the reason I don’t have shrimp even tho I love them. I removed 7 sexy shrimp from my old 20g because none of the coral could eat when I spot fed

I take a turkey baser and suck up some mysis from a cup of it defrosted. I dump the rest of it in the tank and add a nori clip to distract the more aggressive feeders. Than I target feed lps and nems with mysis. They respond pretty well. I’ll squirt some mysis into the nems and they have no problem immediately eating it. I’ll wait till the corals pick up on when it’s feeding time to target feed or I’ll blast a little at them and wait for their feeder tentacles. I also feed reef roids to the Zoas and softies as well as some of the lps. My preferred frozen food that I’ve tried has been PE mysis and I’ve used other brands such as hikari and rods food. Rods was nice but my fish didn’t know what to do with it lol. Hikari is also nice but I have yet to see as fat and gut loaded mysis as PE’s. Since feeding (I feed every day to every other day) all of my corals have grown exponentially and a rhodactus in my tank is sprouting a new head already after 3 weeks. Fish are all fat and happy. The question is not really what to feed but when to feed. All corals IMO benefit from some form and acans love all foods.

Besides whatever is floating in the water, once a week I feed Coral Frenzy Pellets using an open rod that has a funnel pushed on top. Tap the rod, the pellets funnel down. This allows me to spot feed a few LPS at a time before reloading.

My acans usually catch some food while feeding my fish. Though spot feed AB+ mixed with reef chili once or twice a week.

I have had tremendous success in the past just feeding them reef roids. Make sure its more like a paste. lastly whenever I feed my diy fish food they seem to catch it

I do this when lights are out to prevent fish from stealing pellets from mouths.
