I’m looking to venture into the world of Acroporas. I have other Sps like mystic sunset, green birdsnest, and red and green forest fire digis that are doing well.

Who do you feel is the best retailer to go to for nice, colorful, healthy Acroporas without getting dragged over the coals?
Is there a certain time of year where they’re sales?

Same question for zoas.

As always...thank you all for your time and advice. I really do appreciate it.

Checkout battlecorals , they have sweet acros. The “battleboxes” you pick how many acros you want and how much your willing to fork over. The less you request the bigger and nicer they usually are. But they are all ridiculously nice anyways so get a bunch! Haha.

Zoas I’ve had the best luck at frag swaps, not sure where you live, but there’s crazy deals at those. Your usually going to pay a premium online for zoas and get less heads.

Wow so a really good review followed by a bad one. Did you receive the shipment during really bad weather? What do you think it can be attributed to.
Thanks again.

Hemm, have you ordered from them recently?

Any recommendations on possibly another provider with good deals? Also, how fast should I expect Acroporas to grow? For instance my green birdsnest has doubled in size (from a frag) in about 3 months. Thanks fellas.

When I started into sps over a year ago. My first sps order was from battlecorals. The shipment was delayed and everything was DOA. Adam sent out another box no charge of shipping or anything. I still have those 4 acros now. He's good dude and will work with you dont hesitate to order from him. Once you get your feet wet I like to order from cherry corals and top shelf aquatics all very good retailers with great selection. WWC Ebay selection has good acros for decent pricing as well.

No not really, and shipment was not delayed or anything...as I said I have worked with adam in the past and my experience with him was good. But these last couple times was bad I stopped ordering.

If there is ever a shipping issue Adam usually replaces the coral or refunds. Was that not what happened?

I have bad luck with a vendor who specializes in clean algae, pods, captive bred inverts, etc. My orders arrive more dead than alive, my guess is there's a breakdown somewhere in the delivery chain.

I ordered 4 or 5 times, they replaced dead snails and more dead snails arrive, so I stopped ordering like you did to stop the waste. Tracking never shows any delays, I don't know if USPS is storing them in an unconditioned space prior to delivery, shaking the box like a maraca, whatever they are doing I think they are the cause of my issue not the vendor.

Try to find some local groups on Facebook or here. You can typically get wayyyy better deals and much healthier corals. Otherwise I've heard gold things about battlecorals, rj spires on FB, and wwc.

I have purchased and wouldn’t hesitate buying sps from Battle corals or cultivated reef. I would like to buy from boom corals as I’ve read lots of good things, just haven’t done it personally.

I’ve had good experiences with TSA, WWC and Boom Corals alike. Prices depending on what your looking for might not be too bad. I’ve found I get the cheapest prices at frag swaps.

Local hobbyists always work out best for me. No shipping stress and the corals just seems hardier. Also you get better prices without having to pay for to shipping and make some local connections.

I usually keep an eye out in the local reef club forums. Sometimes you can even find some corals on Craigslist.

There are a lot of great coral vendors. Some have great live sales where you can get good deals. TSA is having one this weekend. My faves I've ordered from:
Battlecorals
TCK (The Coral Kings)
TSA (Top Shelf Aquatics)
POTO (pieces of the ocean)
ARC (a reef creation)
Cherry Corals
Joe Knows
Chaos
Aqua SD
Jason Fox
Unique Corals

Others:
Budmans (haven't ordered from them before but they have a couple really good deals going on right now through R2R)
Boom corals (heard good things)

Also, check out the livestock selling forum. A lot of great members selling some amazing stuff.
