Best Website for Acropora

Wow just went and checked out some of the sites mentioned and while I'm glad they are providing these types of corals to people who can afford them. They have some pretty awesome corals and if you can swing those prices than those seem like great options. I usually get mine from the local reefers who buy from these web sites and sell the frags at significant discount from what they paid for them. Plus they grow them out and recover some of the cost incurred to bring them into the community.

For the record all these online retails are expensive, and I know coral is worth ad much as you willing to pay for it. I am guilty of spending alot on coral...but honestly I get better deals bigger pieces at my local fish store...I buy rare pieces from online...
If you lucky to have a good LFD around you, always check them first..they also carry gems too

Luck you, my LFSs gouge on 'common' corals and have meagre selection at best to boot...

Coral frags do not have to cost $50-$100 each. Four pages and no one has objected to only providing high-priced options?

https://aquariumdepot.com/

Wait for a sale, watch the inventory for a while... you can buy frags (including SPS, including acro), for $10-$20.

When somebody asks where you can buy a car, do we recommend a brand new Porsche as the only option?

(The for sale section on this board is also great, similar prices can be had there)

This hobbie is really trial and error. Getting your feet wet means getting your feet wet. If you are a true collector, than your not really looking at the price, you just want the piece. Find what you want and buy it.

Some corals grow faster than others, some slow growers grow faster for some. It's all about getting your feet wet.

My tank never looks good when I follow the info given on this site or from anyone. Always looks great when I follow my gut. Sometimes I see things a little pale or receding, or red algea starting up. I don't come on here asking why. I dump a bunch of food in. For me usually is the ticket. That's only cause I study my tank and no that about it.

Battle corals is solid, good varieties and inexpensive prices.

Reef raft usa, your guaranteed flat worms, red bugs and others. But his corals do end up looking like the pics, which you wont really can't find elsewhere. So I'm always game to buy and just throw in quarantine, knowing there's pest.

To me a true enthusiast just has to have a certain piece, and will pay dearly even 5 times to have it.

I myself am suffering from gotta have it.

Go get your feet wet!!! Let us know how it goes

Most of the time, people complain about price, want what they can't afford. There are plenty of 10-30 dollar options.

Disagree a bit on how you characterize "people who complain about prices means they cannot afford it"
Just because we complain about price increase do not mean we cannot afford it my friend. It can also mean we have experince and can calibrate across the years we been in the hobby, we saw how 200$ trachy became 2000$ and how a frag of red planet became ad much as massive colony 4 years ago.
I do believe coral prices are inflated, some rightfully so( ban of indo) some without a reason other than a hype and availability of customers who will pay regardless.

It's all about perception..you say reef rafts is full of parasite someone else will say other wise...you say battle coral is cheap, I disagree and say its one of the high cost vendors...all about perceptions and personal preference..

Cheers.

Why take it dirrecly. Why complain? A lot of us are fine paying the prices. Than when they grow out hopefully you can make your money back and pay for the hobby. Your not going to do that with 20 frags.

I was actually surprised when I first joined the hobby that you could get an alien life form for under 100.

Sorry Adam @Battlecorals if I did say cheap. I meant to say very fair priced.

Quit taking over this thread.

Kick rocks,
Daniel

Don’t buy a brand new Porsche, get a CPO one for half price. :-)

One great inexpensive option for the beginners is www.fishnreef.com
I have talked with him at many shows and he only sells fast growing sps and sells good large sizes. You can get nice large packs to fill the tank for very cheap. I have never ordered from him but know lots of locals that deal with him and it always seems like they were happy. It’s just nice to see someone doing things right and not to make tons of money but more to provide great corals and have fun.

If you look around you will find many good options. Since these prices are arbitrary, you will see similar coral for diffrent prices..so do your homework and just compare diffrent sites.
