Cut a sheet of 1/4" HDPE to fit the tank bottom. Didn't seal it in place, just set it there, put the live rock on top of it. Been that way for over a year now, no problems.

Do you notice a difference in activity levels between your Tangs and the Foxface? Is the Foxface less active?

Thanks for the information on the goatfish. I guess QT is more for medication but so I may just have them separated first for observation to make sure things are okay before I submerge in my DT. So it would seem that a week or so would not hurt if no sand is there for them. Mandarin is also on my list but that is a different topic. hahaha

I'd just make sure to keep it very well fed in the QT since he won't have sand to go through. They have a high metabolic rate and a voracious appetite and need fed numerous times a day WITH a sandbed. So, while in a QT without sand, definitely feed quite a bit. I have a bicolor goatfish and he has so far been a model citizen.(I did not QT) Hasn't touched any CuC or any of my smaller fish, however, he is still a little guy so that could very well change in the future though I doubt I'll have smaller fish by then. My melanurus does not like him and chases him a little but there's no issue aside from that. He is a worm eating machine as well.
