Looks like a lot of flow. Fish have any issues with it so high without having much rock?

That video is in my frag tank........main tank is similar. Fish have no problems..........the pumps all have wide flow or I have their outputs bouncing off each other or the tank walls.

Whenever I see less extension I know my pumps need cleaning. The Jaebo pumps need cleaning at least once a month.

Thanks my friend............right now I have two nigripes clowns and a desjardinii tang about 2.5". What I feed them provides enough nutrients for the system. I spot feed a few acans once or twice a week.

I feed this fat head dendro 5 days a week. It up to 9-10 heads from the original one

I wanted to make a correction on my answer to the systems age. It was started from a downsize of a 120g to 75g in 2010. I didn't start taking pics of this system till 2012 and that's why I initially posted the incorrect 5 years.

In 2014 I swapped out the 75g to the 80g rimless.......so overall it's been 7 years. Some of the rock in the sump has been wet since 2000 and some of that was seeded/taken from rocks that are 20+ years old.

The frag system(separately plumbed) is about 4 years old..........same deal as the display. The volume and glass boxes changed but the rock in the sump is the same that I actually seeded from my friend Dan's tank. His system has been running since 2000 at least.

Thanks! Nutrient export is an oversized skimmer rated for 450g on my 90g system.
7-10% weekly water changes are performed for minor nutrient control, balancing and maintaining trace elements.
GFO half the recommended amount changed monthly.

Fish are fed heavily to provide more nutrients, elements, vitamins ect. for the corals. A good fish population is very important.

Current levels Display--- PO4- .07 N03- 5.0

Frag Tank-- Po4 .07 NO3- 2.5
This system I only have a skimmer and do water changes. The fish load is lighter, so no GFO.

My T5s provide a range 0f approx 200-500 par. Go to post #140 to see my light table. Take note of the distance to the bulbs in parentheses ( ) for par values.

I don't dose any coral foods, aminos, vitamins, trace element supplements ect.

Randys two part is used for alk and calc, Mg is maintained at 1300 per water changes.

The bulb combo of choice is the same Blue+ and Coral+ for Sps. Your Reefbrites will serve to add more blue aesthetically which is fine. I'd start at about 9-10 inches......I wouldn't go lower than 7-8" once things settle in.

Main 8 bulbs eight hours.............Reefbrites I wouldn't do more than a total of 6 hours mid day. I'd start at 4.

Those Reefbrites XHO can be overkill of that single 450nm range........it's too narrow and can cause problems with colors longer term. This is based on what I've seen on friends Sps tanks that overdue it on number of hours per day. They will also tend to turn rainbow acans and chalices orange.

I would prefer more of a mixed LED from 400-465 for supplementating.

Wondering what your opinion/suggestion would be for my sps dominant tank, 32x24x20 lit by a single 250w Radium, but fixture has 4x 15" Reefbrite XHO strips. Current schedule is all Reefbrites on 11-1, MH on from 1-8, then back to just Reefbrites from 8-11. Based on your quoted comments...should I be re-thinking this?

They are only producing a very narrow range of spectrum of approx. 450nm. Most lighting systems have plenty of that for the corals needs in reference to color and growth. You're not coloring the corals more just adding light to add some reflection that looks better to our eyes. It's usually the green, yellow and orange colors that will look better.

Running long periods of a single spectrum can be too much. If you want the dawn/dusk for an hour or two that's ok. 10-12 hours full on is too much. You can see color shifting and/or damage.

I would cut that in half.......4 hours mid-day or the hours when you want to enjoy the full supplementation with all the lights on and then 1-2 hours on each end for dawn/dusk.

Finding a way to use a dimmer for them can also help.

Thanks for the info. I might look into just reducing the time they are on. To be honest, I never really considered the effect they might have, but simply thought of them as supplemental to improve visual appearance for me.

It seems the dimmers are $100+ to dim two, which means it'd be over $200 just to dim the ReefBrites...if cutting down hours they are on will help I'd just go that route.
