Bill's new 60gal rimless cube - build thread

Nice Bill! I like the mini OA under the tank. ;) Also, have you thought about lowering the halide at all to decrease the light bleeding onto the walls?

The canopy is not finished yet. It will actually come down much farther. I will be putting updated pics tonight i think. I built the doors for the canopy and the filler panels for the voids between the tank and the walls. Also got the controller fired up and wired all the lighting. Need to put the chiller in and the skimmer needs cleaned. Then it'll be just about done. Gonna work on staining this weekend :)

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see the progress! I love tank builds! :) I think it's one of the most fun parts of owning a reef tank. lol!

Well time for some more updates...Finished the wood work, just have to figure a stain. While I'm doing that figured I'd get started on the rest of the stuff.

Installed the electrical for the canopy and the controller. Mounted all the wiring and the panel that will hide the wiring above the tank. Also put in some rock. Trying out a pillar look. Gonna go up the back wall too...this is just the beginning.

Skimmer is soaking in vinegar and water to get all the deposits out. Gonna get the fuge going tomorrow and the reactor too.

Yes just wanted to get the pillar piece in first so I can work around it. More rock coming in the next couple days.

Bill that looks great!

Been a while so thought I'd update:

We have livestock!!! Fish, inverts and corals. Moved things from the old tank to the new yesterday.

Fish:
2 Pyramid Bfly
2 Occellaris clowns (Matilda and Bob)
1 Flame fin (Tomini) tang

Inverts:
1 tiger serpent star
1 cleaner shrimp
6 Astrea snails
1 Halloween Hermit
5 Blue legs
1 Sea cucumber

Corals:
Asst'd Zoas
2 Acans
Grape Cap
Candy cane
Some Palys.....

Also installed the chiller as i could not get the tank below 81. Fuge light is running adding Chaeto tomorrow. All wiring is done and really happy how it's all turning out. Have to get the dosers up next. Waiting for a fall in Cal and Alk first.

Bill- you do incredible work. Very nice, this was inspiring to read, (knowing my situation, lol) thanks for updating :) Pics look great! :)

Well....after a battle with ich that was lost im left with only my mystery wrasse. However the corals look fantastic. I will be getting new pics up asap...

It's been a while...life is crazy. Tank is looking great however. I have added a Maroon Clown and a few more frags. Also changed to a DA Reef Keeper Lite, which i like much better than the ACII. I find it much easier to use and like the display much better. Params have been perfect and things are growing fast. I am unfortunately dealing with a little Cyano, but i'm getting that under control. System is only a few months old so what do you expect. I'm digging the smaller tank. It's fun and the equipment is more manageable. Plus 5 gal water change is much nicer than 35 LOL....

Thanks guys!!! Stand still needs stain...I can decide if i want to just seal the outside or stain it a different color. What's nice is i can take all the outter pieces off to finish them. No fumes :-).

Added a Thompson's Tang yesterday....He is tiny. bout 1.5"!!! I will try to get some shots of him but he is still pretty skittish. And don't worry..I will bring him back in when he is too big ;)

This is what he looks like:

I'll get my own pic when he starts coming out more
