Was thinking about changing my bio pellet reactor and just wanted to see which one's people are using and the one's they like the best. Seems like there are a lot out there.

After a trial period with a BRS reactor, I bought a Reef Octopus BR 110, and am happy with it. I also bought an Eheim compact 2000+ pump to run it, and like the fact that I can regulate the flow without having to add an additional ball valve.

I will say the RO reactors are really one of the best choices out there, great design for tumbling.

I was thinking of buying the brs one. What did you think about it?

It worked OK, but not as well as the RO, and wasn't going to hold enough pellets for my system. I think if your system was small enough, it would work fine, if not you could simply re-purpose it for GFO or GAC.

Dont go with a BRS one. get something like a reef octopus or get the avast ones. they perform much better than the BRS.

I just went through all of this and I ended up buying one from one of our local guys. I'm sure he would ship you one if you are interested. PM him, Mixer911 for details. I like mine and it was quite a bit cheaper than anything I could find online. I still need to post pictures of it though. A lot of guys in this club use the same brand, formerly known as Atomic Reef.

I have a Reef Dynamics one presently. When you get all the pings straightened out I love it but man when you do anything to maintenance it good luck getting it to not leak when you put it back together. Honsestly I have had about enough with it. I can't believe how expensive they are for how cheap that thing is built. I was looking at the Octopus one mentioned above and was curious on how well it was built and how it tumbled the pellets. I saw the Atomic Reef one's around for minute but did not know how they performed. The one I saw was built like a dang champ I will say that.

i moded a brs reactor and it works much better than using regular way. if your on a tight budget or just have one and dont want to buy one it works really good. holds easily over 500ml. the mod is like $6 if you alrdy have the brs canister and top dont even need the insert container that holds gfo/carbon. i alrdy happen to have all the parts at my house alrdy so it didnt cost me any extra and works much better than with insert canister.

G, share this knowledge with us please. I have a dual carbon gfo reactor sitting dormant in my garage.

reverse the flow, heat up a piece of pvc and mold it to the hole on the top, put some plastic canvas like i use for algae scrubber screens in a circle with zip ties to keep from comming out the top. the bottom you need to rig up some people use a funnel but it still has parts on bottom that pellets get caught in so what i did was cut the funnel to like an inch tall then cut a flat tub stopper on top to make the bottom rounded and smooth so no where to get pellets stuck.

I made it better: BioPellet BRS reactor mod! - 3reef Forums

i posted this mod on our ecobak sticky before.

also i didnt use the cap and i did the bottom of mine differently gives more room way i did it and bp dont get stuck cause its smooth and curved.
