@OnlyTono, care to share a pix of bio pellet reactor set up mate?? Also, many thanks, @Randy Holmes-Farley it's much appreciated for your help and input.

Sure - it's not much to look at, but here you go. I run a next Reef reactor, and have it running off it's own pump. The outlet runs back into the sump and dumps the water right in front of the skimmer intake.

Since this is my 1st Bio Pellet reactor, I would like to get your thoughts and comments if I have the EcoBak pellets tumbling enough? tHEY SAY TO USE 500mls on the pellets but I just start out with 200mls. Also, I have the outline right next to my Skimz Protein skimmer intake like the directions say to do.

The installation looks good and I like that reactor. But I would tumble them just a bit less. The EcoBak pellets are a bit harder than other because they are so small it can be hard to get a good even teble. You want the whole volume moving with a gentle tumble. I'll try and get a video of mine - but it's hard with the blue of the reactor

@OnlyTono - Quick question, I just read the directions and it tells you to turn off your UV Sterilizer while running the Bio reactor! How long do I KEEP it off for?

Also, how is this, I tweaked the ball Valve a bit for less tumbling of the Ecobak pellets? Let me know your thoughts?

The tumble looks much better at the mid/top area, but the lower areas is still bit harsh. that reactor has a similar issue that mine did - the flow comes in hard on one side more than the other. This can cause the pellets to grind against each other.

I had to DYI mine a bit so that the bottom plate sat much higher over the bottom inlet so that the flow was more dispersed when it entered the pellets. I still haven't been able to get a video of mine, but I will try tomorrow when the lights are back on.

As far as a UV sterilizer - Ive never run one, so I';m not really sure. I can. i can say though, that i have read that the UV sterilizer can be somehow counter productive to the process, since it kills off the beneficial bacteria you're growing in the reactor. My understanding is some of that bacteria will make it into the tank and serve as a food source for corals, sponges and other filter feeders.
