Black are in the stomach

That has me stumped! Looks like humble and Mel have you taken care of. Glad you're seeing improvement. I too have seen that before but know nothing of its cause.

Here's another picture to show the texture of the darkened area. It was taken BEFORE yesterday. The upper half of the fish is darker too but this is just from mood changes and not present most of the time.

Might not be a bad idea to start soaking his food in vitamin supplements. I'm not 100% sure what that could be.

Thanks HumbleFish for the suggestion. I forgot about the bottle of selcon in the frige. Will start soaking nuri in it now.

Can I ask..... in the pictures it's awful blue so it's hard for us to see detail and especially color. Do the dark areas have a red tinge to them? or streaked with red at all?

No red tinge. Grey black.

BTW I bought an iphone app (Camera +) so I can adjust WB. But unfortunately only up to 8000k.

Just an update. The darker color is almost completely gone. The skin is still raised but better. Currently the skin looks scratched so he must been scratching himself due to itchiness. My theory is some marine bug bit him which triggered some skin allergy.

On the other hand the two convicts are gaining weight fast visually in just a few days. I feed the tank about 8 times a day ;)

Great news Joe. Glad to see this guy appearing to be on the road to recovery.

Sweet that's probably a lot of the issues with these tangs... Most people can't or don't feed that often. I feed a ton as well and never had any issue with my convict. However the 2nd one I had went into my frag tank which I don't feed nearly as often and expired in a months time.

Most of these convict threads end up leaning toward how they have some kind of rare belly bacteria that can't be maintained in captivity.

I debated moving one of them to the frag tank as well (80g) but decided to table that idea for now. But I eventually will. My DT is very mature with a lot of tough algae growth perfect for these guys. The frag tank on the other hand is fairly new and barren for now. I skim heavily and run BP and refugium so I am well prepared to feed a lot.
