My female maroon clown is starting to get a little frisky with my brain and Pectinia corals. I'm worried she will kill them because she is pretty rough with them. I'm looking for a black bta with white tips. My LFS had one about a year ago when my tank was in its infancy. I can't even find pictures of one online let alone one for sale. Does anyone know where I can get one online? Anyone have any pictures for me to drool over? Thanks,
-Stephen-

I've never seen one but that sounds like one Amazing BTA!! Good Luck with your Search!!

This is more what I'm talking about the one my LFS had was like JET BLACK. Any idea where to get one? I remember a while back BZA had one in their collectors corner once, I think I'll shoot them an email.

Couldn't hurt. If you find one, Like Pam said.. Please post a pic!!

So I have emailed BZA and heard back. I" have done some research of our site and looked at other sites and asked around and I have to say that I personally have never seen any Black BTA’s. Blue Zoo has never sold any on the site. I’m finding it hard to believe that what you saw was actually black or even called black in the description. I have seen some black around the mouth of some Rose Bubble Anemones, but never fully black."
I just feel like I was personally attacked. I do know that they had one in the past over a year or so ago. I know it was blue zoo because back then the only sites I followed for WYSIWYG updates was DD and BZA.
Anyway, I have a few of my LFS's looking for one for me. I checked all my archived pictures and so did my brother and neither of us found the picture I took. IF I find another one I will let you guys know. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what online vendors to ask?

Are you sure it was an E. quadricolor?

Never seen/heard of any jet black hosting anemone. Sure that there are some non-hosting/non photosynthetic out there, but would be very surprised about a jet black E. quadricolor.

Never heard of it but sounds awesome! Yea i agree with you that email from blue zoo wasnt very professional. I own a business and would never dream of speaking to one of my customers in such a manner. To each his own I guess

I have never seen a black bta. I find nothing wrong with bz's email. It was factual as to his findings. Off the top of my head, the only true black coral/invert I've seen are zoos and sun coral. I, too, doubt the existence of a truly black bta.

I'm not good with anemone ID but it looked exactly like a BTA, jet black, white tips. I have a feeling I'm going to be hunting for another one for years before I find it.

Yea some people don't run a business very well.. Or just have poor customer service. I do hope you find one out there somewhere. Keep us posted.

I can almost garuntee what you saw was not a black BTA. Chances are it was a very very dark green BTA that was under some wierd lighting.

I have seen green btas with white rings but black is not a color i have ever seen a bTA come in as in 15 years.

Dyed is a possibility but when people dye anemones its mosly brightening them make them more color not darker. I can almost garuntee it was deep green bta under wierd lighting.
