Black BTA

I believe it's entirely possible that you saw a color morph that appeared to be black, when in reality as someone else mentioned it was likely a very dark green. There are BTA's called chocolates that are sometimes very dark. They always have bright white tips. LAReefs.com offers them frequently. You might ask them if they've ever come across one that's super dark. I've seen some very dark grey Ritteri with whitish tips, but not truly black and I doubt the store would have had Ritteris under HO bulbs. When I'm looking for expert anemone directive, I typically turn to ibluewater.com. If a black BTA exists, they'd know about it. They also have the chocolates and I believe they call them snow clusters or snow covered or something like that. Good luck. I hope you find what you're looking for!

I have purchased those chocolate ones from la reefs. They are dark brown, but could never be mistaken for black.

I've seen some very dark chocolates...much darker than what he typically offers at LAReefs. I just thought that might be a good resource for the OP. LAReefs moves alot of BTA's.

La reefs is awesome. $35 flat shipping fee! I have purchase several high priced nems from him and everything is packed very well.

Sounds like maybe a purple rain bta. I've saw two that almost looked black under normal lighting. They are purple some times really dark purple with white spots or tips.

I tried emailing Bob at IBLUEWATER and he had never seen one either. I'll keep looking and keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the links on the possible leads.

Just checked out LA reefs and their Chocolate BTA is VERY SIMILAR to the one I saw. I stand by what I said when I said the one I saw at my LFS was black with white tips.
