i just noticed this clump of what I think is blue clove polyps growing on my brain. The brain is isolated in the sand bed. That being said, is there a risk to them taking over my tank or are they ok isolated in their brain Island? Would I be better off if I removed the brain and scraped them off?

They do sort of look like the blue clove polyps I used to have. I had to start a new tank to get rid of them. Seeing as how they are attached to another coral, you're going to have a hard time getting rid of them completely. Scraping them off is only a temporary solution in my experience and they will be back within a couple of weeks. They will stay on a particular rock but they also have the ability to spawn in the aquarium and take it over, though spawning is rare.

Some people actually like them, so its sort of a choice you need to consider with your own personal preferences. The good news is that they are the easiest blue thing to keep in the hobby besides maybe yellowtail damsels haha.

Yea weird , I can't find the usual article.

Can you post a different picture under white lighting, no blues on?

I'm pretty sure that is not a clove polyp at all.

Let's #refsquad its an easy one I bet.

#reefsquad

Didn't think #refsquad would get their attention as a referee is not needed at this time! ;)

I'm curious too

Clove, I agree with @saltyfilmfolks. Goni's have heads like a golfball and go out. Cloves lay flatter.
