Blue Gig

I completely agree about ibluewater. I'm surprised the site is still up. It's been at least 10 years it's been the same story ever since -- shows stock on the site, but then you have to pay for him to find you what you want, then he tries to offer you an alternative to what you asked for.

Yep, I was taken by his stock list a couple years ago. He’s actually quite pleasant on email, but after months of back and forth, I had to ask for a refund.

The only person who reliably supplied gigs (and healthy, treated ones too) was @Asagi at BlueKai, but he seems to have shut down. My blue and green gigs from him started out at 2” and are probably 11-12” now!
That’s who it was! Bluekai is where my blue came from also. It was already pre treated, came in nice and healthy and has been healthy ever since

There are many colored gigs available here, the issue is that Americans, as a rule, do not pay high enough prices. In Japan, locally collected colored gigs will go for USD $400-1000 depending on size, color, and seller, and that’s direct from collector (no middlemen). I think they’ll pay even more in Europe.

I think that price is arguably fair for a healthy specimen. My blue Gig was in that price range and was totally fine paying that price knowing it was treated and healthy.

I totally agree. There’s a premium to pay for a healthy specimen, too.

After taking @OrionN advice and target feeding the multicolor it’s starting to square up to the blue again. Blue still has some dominance later on during photoperiod hrs but it’s step in the right direction.

Nice! Starting to settle in. In a few weeks they’ll be fully opened

These have been with me for a few years now. Been in my acro tank the last year or so with limited space, and no feedings besides what little bit of fish food they catch. A bit neglected, so they won’t over grow their portion of the tank

Ah I see, yeah it is easy to control their size at least
