My wrasee was eating prepared frozen food at the LFS when I bought her. I brought her home and the next day she was out swimming about however she is still super shy. Every time I get near the tank she darts under the sand and I'm worried she is not eating well. She picks at the rocks for copepods and worms from across the room but when I feed the tank she is scared and will hide for the rest of the day. I've had her for fours days now. How long has your wrasse taken to adjust to life in your tank. Also the tank has plenty of pods for her to eat and rocks to hide in as well.

Just give her time. I got mine to take frozen by using LRS Reef Frenzy. Try to approach the tank slowly and let her get used to your presence. A week or two of not eating wont hurt her so just be patient.

They are all different. Took my leopard about 3-4 days and now she is out constantly picking and stays front and center most of the time. Just be patient and offer a variety of foods and approach tank slowly in the beginning.

Thanks I am feed a mix of frozen reef frenzy and brine which is what she was eating at the store. I think it is just time as well just curiosity because she is so shy thanks for the response.

Tha is yeah she is defenitly shy and needs some time. But at least she is out and about when I'm not near the tank eating something instead of just being buried.

I would try to find a distance from the tank where she does not hide. Stay there and observe for 5 minutes and then take a step forward until you figure out where she is getting spooked. Then keep trying slowly to get closer. She will get used to you eventally.

I will give this try defenitly. That about how I got this picture I had to crawl to the tank lol

some new fish you just have to feed the tank and walk out of sight....stay out of sight

over the course of 60-90 days they'll associate your facial / body type to "hey, that's the dude that feeds me, bc when he shows up theres food to eat"

Yeah I probably startle her by watching to see if she eats

so you're not worried.... just bummed you cant watch her right now?

give it time....
Well slightly worried, but more curiosity from others on how their wrasses reacted and time for comfort to form. More just out of curiosity because this is supposed to be a more advanced fish to take care of so I guess both ? Lol

I had a 6line wrsase years ago I would only see once a month booking-it from one cave to another. eventually I never saw it again....

I started mine with mysis because she was small and moved up to brine and marine cuisine. Very visible when feeding otherwise not so much. She’s only active from 11.30 am to 8.30pm. You can almost set a watch by her. Doesn’t matter what light schedule is
