Well happy Sunday everyone I woke up this morning to find out my blue tang has popeye or what looks a lot like popeye. White bubble/ bulge over her eye. I can’t get a picture because everytime I come in the room she hides in the rock. I have seaweed out for her and keeping up good maintenance. What can I do to save her? I have a 20 gallon that I can set up quickly to put her In. I really love this fish and don’t want her to suffer. Any help or advice is very appreciated.

I'd keep trying to get a pic

Is the the actual eye or the skin near it? Believe I've seen @Jay Hemdal talk about possible bacterial infections. I'd wait for him to chime in though. I'm no expert, just helping bump your post.

It looks like it’s around the eye

Got another video

Tough to see, but it does lot infected to some degree. Moving it (gently) to a treatment tank and dosing with Erythromycin (Maracyn 1) is a commonly used treatment for eye issues. Here is an article I wrote some time ago on fish eye health issues:

This? And should I just follow the instructions on the packaging or do you have any advice on how to use it?

Yes, just follow the label instructions. Make sure you keep the ammonia level in the treatment tank below 0.25 mg/l

Would this filter be enough to have on when treating? Do I need to add sand or rock to the tank?

You do need some biologically active material, or bacteria in a bottle. Otherwise, the water changes are going to get crazy. Trouble is, if you use material that has calcium in it, you run the risk of it binding with some of the copper.

Can I use water from my other tank for the bacteria?

I also have another fluval hob filter with bio media could I use that too?

May have been an eye injury or bacterial infection for which I'd pay attention to water quality. Jay Has a handle on this so , I am following along

I’m getting a cyano and brown algae outbreak as my tank is starting to hit the ugly stage in my tank. Almost 5 months old. I test every other day and here are my last measurements

Phosphate .24
Ph 7.8
Dkh 12.6
Nitrate 3
Calcium 600
I know my calcium and alkalinity are way off the charts and my ph is low. Trying to figure out what the problem is I think it’s my salt because I tested after my water change and my alkalinity was 10.5 before then. Phosphate is also high and trying to fix that with water changes.
