Bongo Shrimp's Planted Tide Pool

Very nice! Great Job! I need to find more macro algae for my tank.

Thanks.

So there was a little problem with the sponges. One of them was unhappy or dying and releasing some kind of irritant or ammonia. I took them all out and put them in my qt tank just to hold them till I decided what to do and they clouded up the water like crazy. So for now there are no sponges in the tank. I also lost at least one trimma goby to this.

Ok so here's the tank today. I am really happy with it so far. I am not sure if the seagrass will live but for now it sure looks awesome. I now have 25 species of macro and 7 plants.

Please forgive my iPhone photos. :)

looking great! so what was the final verdict on the sponges?

Thanks! One of the orange ones was giving off something bad. I threw all of them in my qt tank and the water turned light orange and cloudy and then foamed up as if I had poured soap in there. And lets not forget the smell. Next time I try those kind of sponges (if I have them shipped to me) I am going to qt them to be sure they aren't dying.

I know that they cannot be brought out of the water when transferring them from bag to tank. so maybe they were handled wrong in shipping?

No I don't think that's it. They were bagged underwater. Plus they usually don't die like that when removed from the water. I think it could have been just really stressed or who knows.

I love the pederson shrimp! I have always wanted to get one. very cool

Thanks! I had tried one before but my candy basslet (who is no longer with us :( ) enjoyed eating him. Here his only tank mates will be small gobies and some pipefish.

Tank is looking awesome Bongo!! Love it :)

Thank you!

+1 i love these shrimp but they are one invertebrate that I haven't had good luck with. 0 potential predators is a good idea. Yours looks awesome, bongo shrimp! Tank looks great too.

does the shrimp host in that carpet?

Thanks! He does on and off. I think maybe since there are no predators that he doesn't feel the need to for protection. He roams around the tank from day to day but luckily stays in the front for the most part.

That is an awesome tank. Would you happen to know a vendor that can get trimma tevagae regularly. The one I had jumped out and ( after making a screen top) I've been looking for more. I really liked that little guy. I'd appreciate any leads you might have. Thanks.

I do not know where to get them. I just happened upon them at a lfs and have never seen them for sale since. After the sponge incident I'm looking for more too.
