Nah this comment was directed at my tank, you know, it being my thread:smile:. Not sure what paint is reef safe, I'm guessing not lead based.Painted???? Egg crates will be under 4 inches deep sand bed so colour doesn't really matter or does it? Could also suggest any reef safe paint for future ref?

i do believe that that outbreak is from the mold release that the manufacturer uses....you could soak it in a realy hot water bath to help get it off...Krylon Fusion, Rusto Plastics... etc..
Anytime you introduce white eggcrate into a system you are going to have a snot algae outbreak. Seal it with one of the paints listed above for a headache free experience.
