Bonsaii Frag Tank

i always loved the look of that tank and i hope to simulate some of the style in my new tank...its just so nice to look at!!

sialkoti is that you tank??

If so I have always loved your tank as well! Welcome to R2R!

No the bottom three are from my tank build which I took the idea from above tank which is featured on RC and mentioned before on this thread. I have spoke with the owner of the (first 4 pictures) on few occasions and with his great help I have managed to do something for my tank. My tank is not wet yet, as soon it kick starts I will keep you posted.

In retrospect I probably could have done something with rods, but you guys make it look so easy, I would have had a much harder time of it. Anyways, we will see how the cured epoxy holds up!!

You should have painted the eggcrate bro!

Painted???? Egg crates will be under 4 inches deep sand bed so colour doesn't really matter or does it? Could also suggest any reef safe paint for future ref?

Nah this comment was directed at my tank, you know, it being my thread:smile:. Not sure what paint is reef safe, I'm guessing not lead based.

Krylon Fusion, Rusto Plastics... etc..

Anytime you introduce white eggcrate into a system you are going to have a snot algae outbreak. Seal it with one of the paints listed above for a headache free experience.

i do believe that that outbreak is from the mold release that the manufacturer uses....you could soak it in a realy hot water bath to help get it off...

Nah lps can be absolutely waay too colorful when done right check out jfields tank, and the pics were taken with an iphone.

That too is beautiful, but the one in the link was so over-saturated that I think one of those shots is permanently burned into my retinas....

On the eggcrate issue, supposedly a soak in vinegar takes away most of the problem...I too heard it is the release agent that causes the problem....either way, like Kray said, the Fusion and Rustoleum Plastics are supposed to be safe after a complete curing process....personaly I would prolly give it like a week before any went into my tank....just a bit concerned about the volatile organics....

Without a doubt jfields has a beautiful tank BUT I think the colors in that TOTM are just a little too eye-popping. The colors seem to blur past the edges of some of the corals also as if they were isolaed and enhanced. This could be from the quality of the camera but I have NEVER seen colors in the wild, in European tanks, or in any of the new color enhancing systems like Zeovit that compared to that TOTM.

Yeah took another look and my retinas are still adjusting, maybe i retract my statement.
