Booster Pump Issues

Is the pump in and out connections ok? Did you turn the bypass regulator screws clockwise to increase pressure?

Yup, clockwise and counterclockwise. Didn't even move the needle.

Bypassed ASO, pump did not turn. ASO is connected in the right direction.

Possible faulty membrane?

I don't think a membrane can be faulty to that extent, in fact if the membrane were plugged the pump would keep running since the pressure switch would not see pressure.

20psi, same as when the pump is on bypassed.

The psi from the spigot is 60.

So is the outlet of the sediment filter going into the pump and the outlet from the pump going into the RO membrane?

Ok so you know you normally have 60 psi which is pretty good actually.

So this is definitely an issue with the hookup. Are you sure the flow restrictor is in and in the proper place and direction?

It seems to me that the pump isn't getting proper suction, check all your tubing runs before the pump , breaking the lines at each connection to verify water flow.

It seems to me that the pump isn't getting proper suction, check all your tubing runs before the pump , breaking the lines at each connection to verify water flow.

I'll take it off the wall and inspect all the connections.

Played with that too. Didn't do anything.

You should also verify the pump(head) and pressure switch are good. Remove the pump , switch and gauge completely and connect the pump to a water source, place the switch ,gauge and a valve in the outlet of the pump making sure the valve is closed . Open water up and plug in the pump, it should start up and begin building pressure to where ever the switch is set at then cut out , if approaching 100 psi open the valve and adjust the switch to 50 psi.

Forgot to mention there is also a pressure adjustment screw on the top of the switch.

This screw adjusts the cut in / out pressure threshold of the pump since this pump has an internal recycle either will do the job but either will prevent the pump from building pressure if set too low.

Correct I've already been through this battle. I had an issue balancing the two.

Connections look fine. Disconnected and Reconnected. Stumped.

So I connected from the spigot directly to the pump and then from the pump to the membrane. Pressure did not increase by much. Based on this, I don't think the issue lies before going into the membrane.

I don't know how to check the pressure if I bypass the membrane as the membrane as the pressure gauge.

If u get the correct T fitting the gauge can be removed from the membrane body to do the check.

Yeah, I need a T fitting that I can screw in the pressure gauge.

I'm hoping SpectraPure has a solution. If not, I'm willing to the ship the whole unit to them to figure it out.

I may be cheaper to buy another RO unit to test and keep for spare, but if u do the test to eliminate the pump and switch then it could only be the membrane.
