Thanks to Coralfarm123, I picked up this BPC FT frag. I'll be tracking it's growth here.
If you're interested in looking at some of my other pics, check them out at photobucket, user name: butts182

how long was the first pic of it in your tank for? I'm ust curious of how much between #1 and #2 is it just simply expanding/getting used to the new tank.

Mine has only grown a little and is now 2 eyes after a year...... Well it did reseed at one point and had to regrow.

I think it does look like some definite growth if you look at the top right corner of the frag... Hard to tell with the different angle in picture #2 though.

I'm not exactly sure, but I would say less than a week. I think it is showing signs or growth. I try to feed it 1 or 2 mysis shrimp a day, but sometimes my anthias, harlequin tusk, emerald crabs, and/or hermit crabs get to it first. If I have the time, I use a bottle to protect it while it's eating.

Nice piece and good growth. I do the same with my frag of ft and it has shown amazing growth. 2-3 brine shrimp a night (5 times a week) and it fattens up nice. I'll see if I can post pics later. Only thing I miss is it was starting to show blue streaks with my old lights (mh) and now it's lost them.

this is a great idea for a thread, this chalice's growth has been said to be the slowest of its kind. this thread will prove that for sure, im looking forward to following it.

Slow doesn't even begin to describe the growth of this chalice. My original WM grows faster than this thing.

My BPC has definitely been a slow grower compared to other chalices but I got mine 7 months ago as a 1 eye frag from coralfarm123 and it is now 2 eyes and a 3rd is forming and its almost doubled in size. It definitely helps by spot feeding thats for sure. I try and feed mine at least 3 times a week with mysis.

The crazy and weird thing is that I spot feed all my small and expensive frags but only the flamethrower seems to be directly affected by it. It is easily, my fastest growing chalice. In 2 months I believe it's grown 4-6 times it's original size. Still only 1 eye however. My pink ******* is fed more then the rest because it has 3 eyes and hasn't grow at all but it did sprout 3 new eyes. I believe it has something to do with how it processes the food it's given.

Ok, here are the picks. In 3 months it has grown approximately 4-6 times it's original size (maybe more to be honest with you). I feed him 2-3 times a night, 4-5 times a week. I watch and care for these corals like they were my own offspring. The pink ******* and others in my tank grow slowly (though new eyes form all the time). The only corals I see that grow at an amazing rate when I feed them is my war coral and my flamethrower. All the other corals expel their waste back into water column. I haven't seen either of these corals expel anything yet, though the war coral I don't watch as closely as the others. It just might be that my flamethrower is growing so fast because it is full of sh?? :)

Very nice. What lighting and placement in the tank do u keep your FT????

Mine stays on the sand bed in the front center of the tank near the glass. I have a 30g tank (36" long x 12" deep x 16" tall I think) with a hanging 250w 20k XM halide and 2 39w ATI blue + bulbs. I also have 4 of those cheasy powerbrite LEDs for dusk/dawn effect. I think the MH and the T5s are around 10" off the water. Here's a bad full tank shot from yesterday. You can really see the ghetto lighting rig I made for the T5s and LEDs:

I have it on a frag rack, about 12 inches from the lights. 4-T5 3 blue +, 1 fiji purple. Used to have 150 watt mh + 80 watts of t5 and the blue streaks were developing. I'm guessing these lights are too weak to bring out the blue in it unfortunately. I might change my bulbs in a few months to see a difference.

Hey butts 182, nice tank! I have a 29 gallon and loved the mh + t5 look and growth. Unfortunately, switched after my ballast blew and decided to go all t5 because of heating issues.

Sweet butts !!! that's one sick 30g. Forget the light rack lol eyez on tank. And thanks fab. Just curious bc I pick up a chalice frag recently and its the closet thing I have seen to the FT. Beautiful pink with the orange rim but the eye is not so bright . Anyway it started losing color on the sand bed so I put it up high. I'm running 8 t5s 6 ATI blue+ 1 ati true actinic and 1giesmann actinc+ didn't wanna smoke it lol. Thanks

Thanks. No heating issues here. I just have my cheap walmart fan next to the tank that you can see on the left. It comes on only when the MH is on. I don't know exactly what the temp is because I no longer use a thermometer, but it stayed between 76-80 degrees.
