I would love some old school reefing. It's hard to find. I'm being very serious. There is a huge difference in tried and true methods vs the trendy stuff.

Today has been rough. I wake up to no power in my dining room meaning my 75 gallon freshwater planted tank had no power. Had to run an extension cord to it from the living room until I could get off work. Ended up moving the tank into the living room this evening...then found the problem was a loose wire in the breaker box.
And the compressor went out on the a.c. in my SUV on my way to work...big problem considering I live in the South and it's August.

I need some cheering up. Show me some pretty pictures of your tanks please?

I don't have any experience with 150s. I would use the 250s and just raise the light a little. Keep in mind, a lot of those softies in these pics were not on the bottom of my 24" tank. Some were right under the lights.

I am enjoying going back through my old pictures.

It was Metal Halide only. This was in 1990.

This might be a really good alternative for me, I honestly don't know a lot about MH setups, I'll have to do some research.

The issue with it is heat.

Yes, and not only the heating of the tank water. It will also heat up your room, which is not a bad thing in the winter time. In Canada, that might be an advantage. My 75 ran between 78-82. I did not have a chiller on that tank, but did have a number of fans.

Do you think having a basement sump would really help with the heat? I'm guessing you mean the tank itself getting hot.

One question. I thought butterfly fish weren't reef compatible? That is a copperband in the picture though isn't it?
