Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Something came up in conversation with Andrew. The new tank is actually his. He said he'd love Steve's LEDs. As it turns out, they will do custom specs. For less than most of the popular name brand LEDs. What do y'all think?
Why not?

I couldn't find the original pic, so this is from my thread on our local forum, Of course, Photobucket is holding my photos for ransom and I can't download them without the nice watermark, like they own the image. I hope Photobucket burns down. Disclaimer: Just a hope, not a threat. :)

Anyway, you can see the cap colonies I had and most of them had a lot of vertical growth and did not look great from the underside.

Monti's hate my tank. I'd love one.
I like them, but I don't think I will have any in the new tank. They get too big and shade a lot of real estate below them. I personally think they look best low in the bottom of large tanks.

I never thought about the shade factor.

Yeah, I had to break all of that out of my tank (140 gallon). I could hardly get rid of it. Gave most of it to my LFS.

God works in mysterious ways, just checked local forums and someone is giving away 2 heads of green tip frogspawn and 6-7 heads of duncan in the Frag it forward section...Fingers crossed I was first to respond

@Fin are you talking about when it curls up. You don't like that?

No, when it grows vertically and you see large areas of the underside. Look at the upper right of that tank pic I posted.

Seeing how all R2R is here I have a question

I read this somewhere and can't find it now it was on another forum. Some just break off pieces of their cap as opposed to using any type of cutters. I want to know if you could simply use those trimmings to help shape the monti. Like why could you simply glue it on top of the plate to help give it height or the sides for a unique shape.
The plates are a bit fragile and break easy. It would be cool to have a Monti statues.
