Also currently looking at monti that is almost big around as 5 gallon bucket bottom, free, frag it forward or gonna get tossed as well as huge birds nest.

The plates are a bit fragile and break easy. It would be cool to have a Monti statues.

The tank I saw I believe was a very large one. They literally just layer pieces on the top.

For a while. Depends on how fast it grows in your tank. You can always break them up if they start to get too big. I was only sharing my personal views on them.

Something came up in conversation with Andrew. The new tank is actually his. He said he'd love Steve's LEDs. As it turns out, they will do custom specs. For less than most of the popular name brand LEDs. What do y'all think?

Steve's LEDs has a really good reputation I don't see why it wouldn't be a great route to go, but I have no personal experience with them so take that FWIW.

Do you think carefully selected placement would work out better? like placing them lower in the tank maybe behind a rock formation and have them plate up and over the rock, kindof hiding the underside or keeping them lower in general would work out better for viewing?

Yeah, that's what I was saying earlier. I would keep them lower in the tank, if you have room. People typically have lots of corals around the sand bed though. Just depends on what you want.
